12. Clarification
Culver, the Governor-elect of Iowa, is succeeding Tom Vilsack, another Democrat. The six states listed by the OP are the Democratic pickups, where a Democrat has been elected to succeed a Republican.

Incidentally, there were no Republican pickups. I figure most DUers know that but there's no harm in repeating it. :)
