CLARK-Peaceful transition of power is taking place in America and it is worthy of our gratitude!
Wes Clark's Thanksgiving message to us:

President Lincoln understood that even at a time of conflict and rancor, we as a nation and a people have much for which we should be thankful and created the national holiday that we celebrate tomorrow. As we gather with our friends and family tomorrow to celebrate Thanksgiving, let's remember in detail what it is for which we give thanks.

Today, as in Lincoln's time, we must remember that our armed forces are fighting in far off lands and we must keep them and their families in our thoughts and prayers.

Let us be thankful for the blessings of democracy. Millions of voters went to the polls this month to make their voices heard and to change the course of our government. While strife and civil war grip many parts of the world, the marvel of the peaceful transition of power is taking place in America and it is worthy of our gratitude.

So as you gather together with you and yours tomorrow, Gert and I send our best wishes for a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Sincerely,

3. Heck, I didn't even know that Lincoln is the one who instituted Thanksgiving!
Guess I learn something new everyday!

in 1863, at the end of a long and bloody civil war, Abraham Lincoln askedall Americans to set aside the last Thursday in November as a day of thanksgiving*.

9. This is the first Thanksgiving in years
that I've felt like there was anything to be thankful for. Before this last election, I was afraid this country had slipped irretrievably into a fascist dictatorship.

Happy Thanksgiving to Wes, Gert and family, and to my DU family.

11. If he had principles, he would discuss 9-11 in detail
intead of just jumping over and into the current quagmire, and discussed how 9-11 happened,
I think discussion about who was responsible would come out quicker than as of late.

9-11 was an inside job

14. Here's some good info about Clark and the variety of things he's said....
about Bush and 9/11 and more. How the White House ordered him fired from CNN for talking on TeeVee against the war, etc....

some pretty interesting stuff

15. no thanks to Diebold and the men behind the curtain.
I believe they misjudged the volume of the Dem voter turnout and we got lucky.

(Whew!)

Thankful in a big way that we might be able to recapture some ground.

17. I noted the caption to the picture says "U.S. institute of Peace"
Edited on Thu Nov-23-06 03:14 AM by Clarkie1
So I did some googling. Here is a sample of the work Clark has been involved with at the institute.

"Reconstructing and Stabilizing War-Torn States: The Challenge Before Us"

We certainly should be thankful for the peaceful transition of power here at home. Let's hope it always stays that way.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

19. Reason to be thankful
With the help of Wes Clark and his supporters nationwide, we have leaders in the halls of Congress now who can start to right our ship. Thank you, General, for what you did. And for what we hope you're about to do! My best to you and Gert on this day to count our blessings.

21. Just thankful
Wes Clark is on the scene to give us hope that there is strong leadership in this country that is rooted in common sense, logic, morals and the human condition.
The cloud of superstition, fear and loathing that has darkened our skies since Antonin Scalia stopped the Florida recount in 2000 is breaking up and allowing some light of day to get through.
Wes gives us hope that we the people are able to have a say in our governance.
Wes doesn't get the corporate media attention as some others; and thus, must be considered the greatest threat to a Republican, theocratic oligarchy.

22. A special note of thanks
To all of the netroots on the tubes, both Clarkies and non-Clarkies, who have worked so hard to make this peaceful transition possible; to make democracy work. Thanks.

During these days of our great Oval Office embarrassment, there are still American leaders that make us proud. Wes and Gert Clark, may you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

23. Happy Thanksgiving to you too Wes and Gert :)
Your warm message arrived in my email box and thank you for your kind wishes. Also, you attached a link for me to think of and support our troops, as I do everyday, but next time, can you use a link that doesn't include a photo of Donald Rumsfeld? I'm not sure, but I think that was Laura Bush in another one, not her best photo, as it looked like half her teeth were missing.

http://www.americasupportsyou.mil/americasupportsyou/help.html

I'm also a little upset the DOD had to put a disclaimer on this list, so I'm just not sure which organization I can support to support the troops?

Forgive me, Wes, but ever since the VFW endorsed George Allen here in Virginia last election, I'm just not feeling comfortable supporting troop supporters. I'll just keep supporting Veterans for Peace.

I know you meant well, but would love for your message to match your links

25. Have the Corporations given up their control? I think not.
The tempo just changes a little but basically the wars of aggression continue and the middle class keeps getting screwed but with lubricant.

I me personally, I am grateful.

Furthermore, the Dems haven't taken over just quite yet. I believe we should give them a chance without comment. There will be time for that starting in February! :)
