Street seized
Beit Hanoun was the site of a weeklong incursion earlier in November in which about 50 people were killed, including about 16 civilians, and which left a wide swath of destruction.
Israeli tanks were positioned on the edge of the town as troops took over some buildings inside it.
They seized control of a street where nearly 20 members of one family, mostly women and children, were killed about two weeks ago in what Israelis said was a misdirected artillery barrage.

Palestinian militants say the rockets are a response to Israeli army assaults, including shelling that followed the last Beit Hanoun incursion that killed 19 civilians.
Israel evacuated its settlements and military bases in Gaza last year, but the military renewed ground operations after militants captured an Israeli soldier in a border raid in June.
Since then, Israeli troops have killed about 400 Palestinians in Gaza, roughly half of them civilians. Three Israeli soldiers have been killed.
