3. Could anyone imagine Edwards as a VEEP candidate again? I don't think
even he would accept that. For him, it's the top of the ticket or nadda...

4. regarding Clark
did he give any suggestion of running? but as far as Edwards I would definitely consider a frontrunner. I like Edwards he has a lot of potential.

7. Obviously
you have done no homework on the man, nor did you listen to anyone in the last election on the repuke side who really didn't want to support dimson, but couldn't stomach Kerry for whatever reason. Sorry, Edwards...he scares the GOP and he scares them bad. They would really have to pull out the 'swiftboaters' to take him down (and not that they wouldn't try - they are lower than pond scum)

16. It is Clark who scares the GOP and the media, which is why he is hardly
ever mentioned. They hope against all hopes that he will eventually fade away.

I'm one that is suspicious of those the media constantly push. The harder they push, the harder I push back. Who decided which candidates would get the free publicity to put their name in voters minds in order for those candidates to poll better? The media did, that's who. Now why would that be?

The good thing about that is the media didn't make Clark, so the media can't break him.

But here's your answer as to why Clark scares them (the media) to the point of really being obvious in their efforts to keep him out of sight, while promoting others who really, in reality, are no more qualified than he is....in fact, for these times, are less so.

17. Edwards and a real Democrat for example.
The Clark people have gathered here and allow themselves to believe what no one else (except Wes, Gert and Wes, Jr.) even remotely considers: a Clark candidacy. And why don't they poll for Clark? Easy: they don't take him seriously. This is not about how I feel about him, it is how he is widely viewed outside this bubble at DU that Clark people have created.

19. Who is "They" that don't take him seriously.....the kingmakers?
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 08:07 PM by FrenchieCat
You may be right there. Clark's lips ain't affixed to anyone's ass that's in the media.....so the chips can't be called in.

That's why Wes Clark will probaby not run. Not because he ain't qualified, since folks who sit in the senate without nary a clue and end up pushing wars and then change their minds with the polls seem to do OK, but because he's not beholden. So you may be right there.

But if Wes Clark doesn't run, Edwards is still last on my list.

12. Ok on that ticket!
Once Clark decides to do this, he needs to focus more on media coverage to get his name included on these polls they're already showing. I think he's supposed to announce pretty soon.

15. The beauty of Clark is the large number of VP possibilities.....
Like Clark/Obama as well as others.

He's got what few have and what the GOP don't want us to have; serious national security skills, strategic planning experience and Emergency preparedness expertise. He's negotiated peace treaties, and led and won wars while communicating and keeping a 19 country coalition all on the same page. Plus he's all about Honor, Duty and Country--it's ingrained in his mentality.

Clark is a true serious heavyweight leader and he's doing some heavy liftin' even though he's not in any office.

He'll be speaking next week at an Arab Summit.

Programme and speaker list unveiled for ASF 2006

The Organising Committee of the 4th Arab Strategy Forum (ASF), which will bring together over 600 global leaders to discuss key issues impacting the Arab world, today unveiled the programme and speaker list for this year's edition, which runs in Dubai from 4-6 December.

The impressive speaker list, which boasts a line up of 114 regional and international leaders from the government, business, political and media sectors, underpins the importance of the ASF as a holistic forum for the strategic development of the Arab world.

Nabil Al Yousuf, Vice-Chairman, ASF Organising Committee, said: 'We have assimilated top-tier decision makers, thought leaders and industry captains from the Arab world and beyond, to bring diverse perspectives to the table. The level of participants and speakers is a clear indication of how this event is viewed as an important forum for addressing some of the most challenging issues facing the Arab world today.'

Being led by seven Co-Chairs, which include personalities such as Dr. Eric Schmidt, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Chief Executive Officer of Google, and H.E. Dr. Youssef Boutros Ghali, Egyptian Minister of Finance, the speaker list is the largest to date.

Distinguished government leaders speaking at the event include Ahmed Nazaf, Prime Minister, Egypt; Sheikha Haya bint Rashid Al Khalifa, President, UN General Assembly, United Nations, New York; Lakhdar Brahimi, Former Special Advisor to the Secretary-General, United Nations, New York; Saad Hariri, Majority Leader in Lebanese Parliament and Head of Future Movement; and General Wesley Clark, Former NATO Commander.

More than 30 industry leaders from the global business community will also address the event...
