Shouldn't this be the prime focus right now for everyone from Speaker Pelosi right down to the netroots? Could we put aside the '08 presidential candidate hysteria for a few months?*

And I agree. Next to Iraq, the most urgent priority is ensuring that something is done to rectify America's corrupt, banana republic electoral system. Absent that fix, the election results next time and for a long time to come will be about as credible as Mexico's.
