Poll question: regarding campaign yard signs...
my SO tells me he thinks it's time I take mine down. I live in a very republican community in what once was very republican Ohio (I love saying that),we kept all our former worthless local officials (they never learn) I told him I like to gloat:evilgrin: so DU it's up to you, what say you.....

1. I would have liked the option
to choose: Leave them up until they decompose naturally into the lawn. :)

2. Leaving yard signs up and bumper stickers on for winning candidates this long is gloating
In my opinion, anything past a week after winning the election is putting it in the losers faces. Think about how you feel seeing the W04 stickers past the how stupid you think the people are, it is just an in your face remark.

I took my yard signs down the day after the election, they did their job getting the names out of the candidates. I took my bumper stickers off this week, even the Kerry Edwards sticker.
I just think we have made our statement and it is time move on while never forgetting.

11. yard signs: remove the next day. Bumper stickers: it depends.
If I could find a car with a McGovern bumper sticker, it'd find a happy home with me. :)

3. It depends
Here in Arkansas, we are having run-offs in local elections. Many are unaware of this, while others know and are keeping the signs for their candidates up. When others keep all the signs up, it has made the impact of the run-off less clear to many; I've spoken to several in my county who didn't know the run-off was happening and said, "Yeah, I saw his signs up, but they had all the other ones in the yard so I just thought they hadn't taken them down. Glad you told me there was a runoff!" In our case, it is for sheriff, and though the good guy got twice as many votes as the Rethug, it wasn't a majority-we're afraid that only the Rethugs will come out to vote and we'll have a Bush-style regime in our county.

4. They should come down the morning after the election.
At least by the end of the day after.

5. Well mine just came down but
ONLY because it was too weather beaten (it was up before the primary and lasted thru the election). My neighbor still has a yard full. Of course I'm in a decidedly blue part of Ohio in Sherrod Browns House District (soon to be held by Betty Sutton).

6. What do YOU feel like doing?
Do that. It's a free country. Now that the election is over, much freer.

9. No, it's not illegal, even if your jurisdiction says it is.
> Illigal to keep them up in MN.

No, it's not illegal, even if your jurisdiction says it is.

Lot's of districts have tried regulating your political speech conducted
on your private property; as far as I know, for those forms of political
speech that can't be construed as a public nuisance, they've basically
all failed. You might have to litigate it, of course. And for that, you
might want to contact your local ACLU.

8. Move on - to the next battle
That one's over. What's your most important issue NOW? Put up a sign that educates people about that.

13. Take the high road and respect your neighbors. We'll all be better off
when we stop thinking of politics as a winner-take-all proposition (as our opponents do).

Take them down. Signs are an eyesore post-election (pre-election too, but that's another issue altogether), IMHO.

15. Take them down and then put something else up
Put up a sign that says Democratic Headquarters. The sign should have 2 waterproof tubes atached. One for voter reg forms and another for Dem propoganda.

17. It sounds like we live in the same town. I took mine down about a week ago.
The Ted Strickland bumber sticker will probably stay for quite a while however.
