Sherrod Brown is a Warrior for the Middle Class
Edited on Sun Nov-26-06 11:42 AM by nickshepDEM
I was one of those Hackett guys early in the primary and sort of had some hard feelings for the way he was treated in the primary, but whats done is done... After watching Sherrod Brown over the course of the campaign, I've realized that he is truly a diamond in the rough. The way he conducted his campaign - never backing down, standing by his record, putting his votes for MIDDLE CLASS tax breaks on the front burner, and attacking Bush's tax cuts and the energy bill.

I'm watching him on Face the Nation now and he continues to impress me.

Also, I know I may get flamed for this, but is it just me or does Bob Corker seem like a reasonable Republican? Maybe its the fact that he knows he's in the minority, but some of his positions seem rather tolerable. He supports increasing the minimum wage and allowing the Gov't to negotiate with drug companies.

1. I think there are still some reasonable Republicans out there
and they should be courted by the Democrats. We don't need to act like the neocons did when they were in power-we should invite the sane Republicans to give their input on bills, etc, and never shut them out.

2. He's very good, the real thing
and those of us who supported him early knew that Dems would not be disappointed. Glad you support him now, he's the real deal. Don't expect him to run for president, though, its not his style. I think he's looking forward to getting a lot of things done in the Senate. Look for him to be a key player in major health care reform.

3. I did not see the show this morning, but I know that during the
campaign I really really did not want Corker to win. Other than the things you mentioned he seems like a pretty typical conservative who does not want embryonic stem cell research and opposes same sex marriage. And those negative ads he ran against Ford were just dispicable. So for now, I don't respect Bob Corker.
