Pentagon "developing alternative" to Iraq Study Group (Bush might not "like recommendations")
Reporter: Pentagon Is Developing Alternative To Iraq Study Group Findings "To Give The President An Out"...

Posted November 26, 2006 02:51 PM

MSNBC's Chief Washington Correspondent Norah O'Donnell appeared on The Chris Matthews Show Sunday morning. During the segment of the show where Mattthews asks reporters to tell him something he doesn't already know, O'Donnell revealed new information about the much-heralded forthcoming report from the Iraq Study Group.

Partial Transcript:

O'DONNELL: Well, the Iraq Study Group, the first draft will be ready this weekend, it's going to be debated next week, it could go the President and the Congress very soon.

MATTHEWS: Is that official or is that a leak? Are you getting a copy early?

O'DONNEL: No, but they've got their first draft. We'll see if everybody agrees to it, but the Pentagon is already developing an alternative to give the President an out if he doesn't like the recommendations.

1. Why is everyone wasting such valuable time?
Just do what needs to be done. God. I hate these treasonous, rat bastards.

5. He wants someone with significant credentials to tell him he's "right."
That's all he's doing...stabbing around in the dark, searching for agreement and obedience and free reign to do what his "God" tells him to do.

If his daddy's people tell him he's "screwn," he'll just find more people. He'll dig up some hawkish ex-Military "experts" who'll sing the "stay the course" chorus and Fox News will discuss their "findings" 24-7.

As he's said in the past, things would be a lot easier if he could only be a dictator. He's working on it. Working hard.

12. Dictator is what he wants.
I read an article in the Ideas section of the Boston Globe today. It talked about how Cheney is a dictators dream. It is the scariest thing I have ever read since the election results in 2004. That Cheney is insane and power is his greatest goal. I wouldn't put it past him to try and get the election overturned or go into Iran and declare martial law. If you get a chance go to it and look.

2. Another wasted Washington "bipartisan blue ribbon commission"
Your typical bipartisan commission full of washed up, mealy mouthed old men who spend months holding hearings, pushing paper, taking junkets around the world and after much waiting there is...

a report.

And of course the people in power then pretend to take that report seriously, the media kicks it around for a few days, and we all go back to business as usual again. No policies ever actually change as a result.
