Chavez Vows To Beat The 'devil'
CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Venezuela's leftist President Hugo Chavez on Sunday promised hundreds of thousands of supporters he would win a resounding victory in his December 3 reelection bid he describes as a challenge to Washington.

The former soldier and self-styled revolutionary is favored in the polls to beat rival Manuel Rosales after building a solid political base through a social development campaign financed by oil revenues.

Chavez supporters flooded Caracas thoroughfares waving flags and banners, congregating in different parts of the downtown a day after Rosales sympathizers held a similar march to close his campaign in the capital city.

"We are confronting the devil, and we will hit a home run off the devil next Sunday," said Chavez, who ruffled feathers in October by calling President Bush the devil in remarks at the United Nations.

1. Why "self-styled" revolutionary? That's some revolution that's taken
place, not just in Venezuela, either.

He's helped other larger South American countries, such as Argentina to stifle the predations of the World Bank, US corporations, etc., and kick-started a growing, left-wing populist, i.e democratic, revolution (mainstream/welfare-state democracies in continental Europe) in South America.

Typical snarky, deliberate, MSM, weasel-word misrepresentation.

2. It's so unlikely we will EVER see a straight bit of honest reporting on this man from our media.
They just don't have it in them to tell the damned news without resorting to right-wing gibberish and propaganda.

Makes you wonder if they are actually getting PAID for it, like some of Bush's other "journalists," like the ones at the Miami Nuevo Herald, or Armstrong Willams, etc., or if they are being PRESSURED, as in coerced.

They've thrown their standards out years ago, maybe during the Iran-Contra war, when Reagan had Otto Reich swamp them with right-wing manufactured stories and commentary, and who knows if they really weren't up to this even before that time.....

Professional liars. They are lying to our faces about real events, treating us all like imbeciles. What they are saying, essentially, is that they KNOW the truth, but they aren't going to honor us with the delivery of the real news: instead, we're going to get the right-wing, barely recognizeable truths from them. That's really dirty. They need to be shot lightly.

3. A journalist posting to the Salon forum a while back said that they
didn't need to be told what their employers disapproved of, not how violently. But when a journalist uses a misrepresentation as pathetically blatant as this, you know they don't need prompting in any shape or form.
