Republican donors support Giuliani
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/11/27/wuspols27.xml

Some of the biggest Republican donors to George W Bush's presidential campaigns are backing Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor, for the White House as the candidate who can beat Hillary Clinton in 2008.

Over a private lunch of sea bass and hamburgers at New York's 21 Club recently, Mr Giuliani addressed nearly three dozen of the men who helped propel Mr Bush to the presidency. They included "Pioneers", who donated more than $100,000 to Bush campaigns, and "Rangers" who gave at least $200,000.

Patrick Oxford, a major Bush contributor from Houston who attended the lunch, said that despite having courted the top Bush donors for years, Senator John McCain, seen as the Republican front runner for 2008, had not persuaded all of them.

"Every Republican leader and fundraiser has had the chance to contribute to or join the McCain team. If he's not seen to be the inevitable choice by now, perhaps that signals something," Mr Oxford said.

2. Giuliani hooked into the main money line in 2005
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 01:47 PM by MilesColtrane
That was when he joined the law firm Bracewell & Patterson.

These are the same people that funded Bush's gubernatorial and presidential campaigns.

Bracewell & Giuliani's clients are oil companies and people who work for oil companies.

I'm afraid our next president has already been selected for us.

9. Giuliani will provide a cornucopia of material
to exploit in negative ad campaigns, that is if he ever gets past the primaries which is highly doubtful. He's a one-issue politician, and although painted as a hero during 9/11, there many NY'ers that beg to differ. He passed up the opportunity to side with the 9/11 widows against the Coulter assault.

10. "Sea bass and hamburgers" for lunch, huh?

The bass was ucky farm-grown, they didn't serve hush puppies, homemade baked beans or even coleslaw... And to top it off, the burgers were hard as rocks with no cheese or other toppings!

How do I know?

Because ONLY Democrats know how to throw a Good Ol' Downhome Feast!!

But speaking of Guiliani.. I think it's GREAT they're dumping their resources into a pro-choice, pro-gay rights, 3 times married (once to his cousin don't forget) candidate who isn't afraid to dress in drag clothing!

If he ran as an Independent, Hell- the money might be well spent!

Rudy just won't cut it with the wacko base..

11. Rudy won't cut it with the wacko base?
Never heard of being born again?

All he has to do is say he accepts JC as his personal savior and reverse course on some issues and he's gold.

The other Republicans along with the Democratic candidates have an awful lot of ammo to drag out on him..

If they can destroy John McCain's image with a mere whisper campaign, imagine what they can do with a colorful and charismatic character like Rudy!

On one of the Sunday talk shows this week, one of the political pundits (sorry, I don't remember her name) really nailed it.

She said that Rudy must know that he'd forever give up his fuzzy-warm "America's Mayor" image if he ran. He'd battle with his own party on his liberal stance on social issues such as gun control, gay marriage, and abortion for starters.

He'd have to re-live (along with the rest of the nation) that nasty divorce with Donna Hanover and the way she was told of his relationship with his then girlfriend (now 3rd wife).. And I don't even want to go near the marriage to his second cousin -- but you know they'd use it!!!

I suppose if they could fall for Bush, then anything is possible..

If Guiliani could actually make it through what would be a continual (((TRASHING))) and still win the nomination, dayum... he'd have to be pretty convincing!

I just don't think the Evangelicals will buy even a "Born Again Rudy"

16. They better donate to Diebold & ES&S because Dems won the last 4 Prez elections...
Edited on Mon Nov-27-06 11:57 PM by GreenTea
and we will win again...The republicans are going to have to steal it again, the self-proclaimed republican corporations (Diebold ES&S) who continue owning our voting machines, that we the people paid for with our taxes and the easily hackable software they won't allow us to see, that we also paid for...It's meant to steal and has for republicans 100% of the time!

No private corporation should own our voting machines...throw ALL electronic voting machines into a big hole in Crawford Texas and let's move forward ...back to hand counted paper ballots...The most reliable paper trail.

You seen what's going on in Florida's congressional race and the over 18,000 votes missing and of course the republican was declared the winner by 364 votes by their owned machines.
