Brownback puts hold on Judicial Nominee because she attended a
commitment ceremony....

http://www.buzzflash.com/articles/alerts/139

Four years ago, Janet Neff went to a lesbian "commitment ceremony" for her friend and next-door neighbor of more than two decades. Now, her nomination for a federal judgeship in Michigan is being blocked by religious zealot and right-winger Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS) for no other reason than his homophobia

Janet Neff explained in October that the commitment ceremony did not purport to be a marriage, had no legal effect whatsoever, and that she did not preside or act in any official capacity. But that doesn't seem to be enough for Brownback, who is using Senate procedure to place a "hold" on her nomination. "What I want to know is what does it do to her look at the law?" he said yesterday.

I have a major problem with this... I attended several commitment ceremonies between same sex couples over the years... I was there to support their stability, their commitment, their love for each other...

These ceremonies had no legal standard but were conducted by Unitarian Universalist Ministers...

There is no there there...

Brownback is simply pandering to the religious zealots who can't even allow people who are in love with each other to commit to each other in a ceremony...

7. That's just a slogan
and like most GOP/Bush policies, the slogan/soundbite is opposite of what they say they want done.

6. Typical Sam.
It is going to be fun to see him yammering to nobody in particular when he becomes part of the minority party next month.

He is hateful. He wants to be president. I would say "Run Sam Run" but when I think back to the hilarity the nomination of Bush** brought to me and how that turned out I stop and shudder.

8. You mean Brownback is pandering to "the nuts"
Rove's term, not mine, for the right-wing, neo-con fascist Christan leaders.

9. Guess who is seeking to run for Prez in 2008 ?
That has to be the only reasoning behind his pandering. Like the RR really is going to have a "seat at the table" ? I welcome this outlandish pandering, because it make give the middle-of-the-road GOPers a chance to come to their senses and seek out the "like-minded" people, instead of the Falwell's, the Robertson's, etc.

11. Well, if she's a Bush nominee, Brownback's knife may cut in more
than one direction. Let's look at her closely, we may not want this one, either...

17. This does nothing but make him look stupid and silly. I just hope
it won't make Democrats stupid and work for her without looking very closely at her. Just because Brownback is an idiot and making that fact broad, public knowledge does not mean that this Bush appointee is someone we would or should accept.

12. Senator Brownback also worked closely with and supported
former USAF General Simon P. Worden (Office of Strategic Influence, US Space Command, total BFEE zealot) to be Administrator of NASA-he didn't get that position but does have access to NASA's most powerful supercomputer and many exotic military space weapons as Director of the NASA Ames Research Center.

Senator Brownback also had staff (like Christina Rocca) from neo-conservative dominated thinktanks like USIP which gave us people like former US Taliban public relations spokesperson Lalia Helms, Richard McGarrah Helms niece.

These are BFEE assets-and Senator Brownback is thinking about running for POTUS, an office that has been occupied since the Decider was installed, not elected.

15. OK, so about that 'y'all better not block our judges' crap.
Good for goose, good for gander. Our leaders had better take note and simply ignore their feigned shock when we reject their hideous rightwing appointments one after another.

20. correction........
when one says "fucking crazy" one must use "bat-shit " in the phrase so the correct phrase is "fucking bat-shit crazy".

Urban Dictionary: bat-shit crazy
