I'm watching her on Hardball and once again I am struck with what a personable, smart and committed woman she is.

7. I thought it was a good interview. |
|
Except when he introduced the topic of abortion as: your position on life.
I didn't understand what he was referring to at first.

The contrast between McCaskill and someone like Lizzy Dole is striking and obvious.

4. Claire McCaskill, successor to Harry S. Truman. |
|
She said she's in Truman's Senate seat.
And she wants to investigate war profiteering like Truman.

18. That must be a tough issue for Claire |
|
She also does not favor an immediate pullout from Iraq. On the whole, she is immensely better than Jim Talent. But she does have a few issues we need to straighten out.

13. What was she before election to the Senate? |
|
Does she have much background for it? More than anything, I want to see a ticket that isn't from a blue state on either coast.

15. Very cool that you got to vote for her. |
|
It doesn't seem like enough experience to run for President in '08, but I always keep an eye on Democrats from swing states. Maybe she'll end up being a VP contender. It would be nice to see a woman on the ticket.

17. Several options available... |
|
One is that she can run again for Governor, then later run for the Presidency. Or go from Senate straight to Presidency(though NOT necessarily in '08, more like 2016 or so). Be nominated as a Vice-President for a slightly stronger candidate, or just stay where she is at. Me, personally, I think she's fine where she is now, if things change in 2 or 6 years, then more options may become available, who knows?

22. In the early 90s, she was Jackson County, MO prosecutor........ |
|
I'm sure this accounts for most of her oratory skills. I think she may even have thrown my brother in jail once or twice!.....jk
I've had the pleasure of voting for Ms. McCaskill for State Auditor, Governor and Senator! Ms. McCaskill has come a long way.........

19. She was initially a state rep in MO |
|
Then she was the county prosecutor in Kansas City for a long time. Then she was elected state auditor (I think in 2002?). She ran for governor in 2004 and lost. Then she won the Senate seat this year.

A progressive woman from a red/swing state is just what the doctor ordered. 2008 is too soon but she sounds like a Presidential candidate in the making.

16. Imagine: Obama/McCaskill |
|
We'd carry the midwest swing states. All the racist white men in American wouldn't be able to outnumber the women and african-americans that would show up to vote for that ticket!
