Contrary to Previous Reports, Cheney Was ‘Basically Summoned’ By Saudi Crown Prince
Think Progress

Last weekend, Vice President Cheney traveled to Saudi Arabia in a visit that “was originally portrayed as U.S. outreach to its oil-rich Arab ally.” Cheney made the trip purportedly to discuss a “range of regional issues,” Cheney’s spokeswoman said. The Associated Press reported that Cheney was “seen as a US diplomatic push to stem surging violence in Iraq.”

But today’s Washington Post reports that the push for the meeting came from the Saudis, not the other way around:

Saudi Arabia is so concerned about the damage that the conflict in Iraq is doing across the region that it basically summoned Vice President Cheney for talks over the weekend, according to U.S. officials and foreign diplomats.

Oh, oh. Cheney&Co lost control of the spin. The Saudi King is not happy with his subject.

1. And who are Baker's main clients?
Same answer-the Saudis. They are scared to death of the radicals getting lose in their country ooops too late the Muslim Brotherhood won seats in their last election completely by word of mouth.

Google "The Men From Jinsa" and check out the neo-cons plans for the Saudis.

3. Well that explains his limp.
I'd like to have heard that phone conversation.

Notice how they called Dick and not Junior. Mr. President, you have a phone call. No, we want to speak to the man in charge. Hold that. Mr. Cheney, you're wanted on the black phone.

4. Certainly the Saudi royals are at a severe disadvantage with
'their people' by dealing so cozily with the bush** administration. Same for Musharraf and everyone over there who the populace sees as being 'friendly' (even if they're not) to the US.

6. They Were Happy Enough to Keep Oil Prices Down Before the Election to Help the Repiglicans
Considering how badly the elections went for the Repiglicans with gas prices down,
what would have happened to them if the country had been paying over $3/gallon?
