Trade rep pledges to reach out to Congress

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Bush administration will reach out to both parties
in the new Democratic-controlled Congress and will continue to seek coveted
trade deals, U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab said on Tuesday.

"My hand is outstretched to any and all members of Congress" on President George
W. Bush's trade agenda, Schwab told a gathering of business and trade leaders
at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Some Democrats have pledged to oppose free trade deals unless they include
stronger labor and environmental rules.

WASHINGTON - President Bush's top trade negotiator said Tuesday that the recent
takeover of Congress by Democrats would not derail the administration's aggressive
trade agenda.

In a speech to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Trade Representative Susan
Schwab warned against any move toward protectionist trade policies spurred by the
country's record trade deficits.

They 'have' to talk with the Dems if they want any agreements passed. So let them talk all they want, and then tell them about the tariffs on slave labor goods. Just break their chops, like they screwed all of us in the working classes.
