Sen. Bill Frist announced this morning he would not run for President in 2008.

“In the Bible, God tells us for everything there is a season, and for me, for now, this season of being an elected official has come to a close,” Frist said in a statement. “I do not intend to run for president in 2008.”

Frist, who first was elected to the Senate as an underdog in 1994, served two terms, in the middle of which the Republicans elected him Majority Leader in 2002.

He is retiring from the Senate this year. Senator-elect Bob Corker, a Republican, won a tightly-contested election to replace him.

The Nashville native has been talked about as a potential presidential candidate in 2008, but has not faired well in public opinion polls released recently.

Frist said he and his wife, Karyn, would now take a “sabbatical from public life.”

1. Which just means
he's moving over to K Street or some other corporate whore position somewhere so he can suck money out of the government using his connections.

3. Actually, He's Already Working a Better Scam
His family owns the HCA for-profit hospital chain, currently run by "follow the balloon"'s brother. In the last few years HCA has paid more than a $billion for Medicare fraud - just think how much didn't get caught...

5. Take a "sabbatical" my ass.
He'll make a mountain of money to go on top of the mountain he already has then return in 2012, as leading candidate in the Neo-Christian fascist movement.
