1. I gave you a rec on that one
and, since I agreed with almost all of what you said, butt-kicking didn't occur to me.

7. Most unexpected.
Thanks. I hope it leads to a new direction of discourse. We only hear the anecdotal evidence of cases where recepients of AA have stumbled, but we never hear the other side.

8. Oh, I've been listening.
That's why I felt it was time to come out of the closet and hit them with the irony board I keep there.

4. I'm just online again
after my early morning quick read-through before work. Frankly, I agree with you-and would add that I think children who attend college to party should be given one chance to straighten up and fly right, or lose their position to an adult who would fully appreciate the opportunity to attend and use their time wisely. BTW, when I use the term "children" and "adult", I'm not talking chronological age but rather maturity level.

9. My rignt-wing relative actually said that college was for socializing.
What can you expect? They fed their two year old coca cola through a bottle, until her teeth started rotting, and then he went all through middle-age crying that a minority and AA was going to send him to a premature retirement. in the end, it was age discrimination that got him, at the hands of a young white male.

And his kids? Two out of the three had rough starts in college. They managed to get a late start, but surely enough, they repeat what the old man says. It's all the fault of the minorities.

6. okay toyota
you got it.

Just kidding. One thing though: I believe that people make choices. If we "reach out" to the "good" republicans we're condoning republicanism.

We need to convince the good republicans they should be ashamed to be "good" republicans instead of just good people. I would not reach out to the left overs of the Nazi party either.

Everything about how we got here involves the bench and the legislature consistently taking the side of business over the individual. You can't sue your HMO. Your boss is allowed to read every letter of your medical history, credit history and even insurance history, can basically demand and keep a DNA profile "on the honor system" in almost every state as part of your hiring requirement.

You can be required to work 70 hours a week on a 40 hour salary for the promise of a bonus or raise that may or may not occur, yet if you take home a pencil or use the phone at work for personal calls, it's considered theft.

If your HMO decides you don't need a routine treatment for your cancer or your chronic whatever, and you die or become disabled, you can't sue them for destroying your life.

Even the government isn't required to work out payment arrangements with you on IRS debt, student loan debt, or any other form of govt. guarantee; it's 100% entirely discretional at their discretion.

We don't raise minimum wages because we're afraid it will drive small business out of business, yet we create the "professional" employment category which means if you even once supervised restocking your paper clip drawer, even "hourly" employees get capped at 40 hours a week if they are considered "supervisory".

Now it's nearly impossible to file on credit card debt, so when you had to max your credit cards to pay for gas to get to work to pay for your credit cards, you can be kept from leaving the country on vacation as a debt flight risk, and you sure as hell can't ever for the rest of your life get out of paying back the obligation by declaring personal bankruptcy, even if you're unemployed, disabled, abducted by aliens or dead.

This is fucked up people, and greedy bastard republicans sucking up to business constituencies are the ones who delivered this system of indentured servitude to you. There is no "reaching out". You hand these fuckers a knife and they will put it in your back and congratulate themselves for convincing you they were "good" republicans, and feel vindicated because in their minds if you're the victim, it's because you deserve to be a victim.

I say scorch the earth they stand on, make it too uncomfortable for them not to disassociate themselves from the results of their greed. I'd stop short of guillotines, but not much.

How's that?

10. Not bad, not bad.
I'd add that for every bad public policy or private-interest concession that was given, there was a Repub that benefitted. So we expose it and tell people to face their ideologies now, because they're the ones who are helping support a meaner, nastier and dangerous place to live in.

Start telling the truth. Most of them resent any legislation that is based on the threshold of children. They're interested in making money, and anybody that suffers along the way is an acceptable casualty.
