Iowa Democrat (Tom Vilsack) seeks US presidency
Any Thoughts?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/6160627.stm

The Democratic governor of Iowa, Tom Vilsack, has announced he will run for the US presidency in 2008, promising to make the US "a beacon of hope".

He said he wanted "to replace the America of today with the hope of tomorrow and guarantee every American their birthright - opportunity".

The governor is regarded as a centrist and is little known outside his state.

As governor, Mr Vilsack earned a reputation as a centrist with bipartisan appeal. He is also known to favour higher spending on health care, education and economic development. As a baby, he was abandoned on the steps of an orphanage in Pittsburgh. He was adopted by what he describes as a "troubled but loving" family and went on to train as a lawyer.

1. He makes a point of putting his name everywhere in shot for the Iowa caucuses
That is the only reason I know his name--from when I watched the 2000 and 2004 primaries.

5. 1975...A nation asks...
"Who is Jimmy Carter?"

Vilsack is not anywhere near the top of my list now...but I will certainly listen to the man...

3. I should head to Vegas and bet $5 that he'll win the nomination.
And $500 that he won't.

4. A nation asked "Who's Howard Dean?" in 2004.
He has a better chance as a VP candidate than president - but you never know.
