Sadr seeks anti-US bloc in Iraqi parliament

Sadr seeks anti-US bloc in Iraqi parliament by Sabah Jerges

Thu Nov 30, 9:45 AM ET

BAGHDAD (AFP) - Radical cleric Moqtada al-Sadr is building an anti-US parliamentary alliance to demand the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq, some of his party's lawmakers have told AFP.

The 30-strong Sadrist bloc has suspended its support of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's ruling coalition and withdrawn six ministers from cabinet in protest at the premier's meeting with US President George W. Bush.

Maliki on Thursday urged the group to end their boycott.

"I wish they would revise their decision as it is not a positive milestone in the political process," Maliki told reporters after he returned from Amman where he met Bush Thursday.

4. It is hard isn't it??
I can say this now, I suppose. On November the 6th we received notice from the rear command, 3rd brigade -that the brigade was going south to Baghdad - the whole brigade. To this moment it appears to be being debated in news releases - there is no debate - those orders were issued weeks ago. Frankly, any "bad guys" already know it at this point.

I am not a genuis - I can read. And this was not public, I assumed for some reason. They made it clear it should not be public. I will honor that kind of request always.

They are not sending batallions to reinforce Baghdad - think Brigades.

Although I still do not see this clearly on the internet today - Joe Klein said it last night on Scarborough - clear enough to me.

There is a big fight coming in Baghdad - probably the decisive fight. I think Sadr is right in the cross hairs here - maybe he should be.

Joe

There is surely a big fight coming in Baghdad alright.

5. and very frightening
Our troops are being caught in the middle of this civil war. And Bush only thinks of his legacy and his $500 million library. This makes my stomach turn. Saying extra prayers for all our troops.

Did you see this background story about Jim Webb? Nothing has been said about it on TV, but I am thankful for the Internet...

6. It is -
I really like Webb - I am not so concerned about what is on TV anymore - I know just what BS it is - many of us do and the number grows daily.

I'll PM you about one thing - not comfortable saying it on the internet.

Joe
