W.House will defy Democrats on security: Republican

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Bush administration is unlikely to allow the incoming
Democratic majority in Congress to learn details about its domestic spying program
and interrogation policy, a Republican senator said on Thursday.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, who has
criticized the Bush White House's secrecy about national security issues, said he
would welcome detailed congressional oversight of the National Security Agency's
warrantless eavesdropping.

But he said he had "grave reservations" that Congress would end up getting the
information from the administration.

The Pennsylvania Republican said the White House was also unlikely to divulge
details about its treatment of detainees to the Democratic-controlled Senate
intelligence and armed services panels, despite lingering concerns among
lawmakers that U.S. interrogations could still violate torture protections.

1. No problem, subpoena cabinet officials, swear them in and take testimony.
Then prosecute every SOB who lies under oath.

That's congress' job under our Constitution.

2. That's just lovely, how about a subpoena then?
Congress will get what they want regardless of what the WH and their apparent congressional spokesman wants.

Does Specter understand that his party is out of power now?

8. The courts will back Bush most likely.
Yes it is going to be quite interesting.
Especially since the public backs Congress.

5. Well, I guess we are headed for a Constitutional crisis.
Since it has been in crisis for six years now I certainly don't mind the idea of finally putting it all out in the open.

This Administrations definitely needs to be slapped in the face by the Constitution. Let's do it.

6. Ah, Yes... ALL HAIL... American Democracy!!!
Alive & Well.... ONLY in the White House! Oh wait a minute.... that's NOT Democracy no is it???

Hope isn't a word I use anymore, REVOLUTION is much better! I guess that beeping sound on my phone will start up again. It stopped about a week after the November elections, I suppose if I keep talking it will be back again real soon!

And yes, of course I do realize the beeping may well have only been something to make me frenetic and cautious... they aren't really recording ME! But still and all... there was beeping for a very long time! My daughter said it was on her phone too! Oh well, they have a "file" on all of us I'm sure!

See me, hear me, feel me, touch me!! WHO???
