Yoko Ono to buy up Happy Christmas Billboards

It looks like Yoko is still on the trail of peace. It seems to me like so many things come full circle for dear Yoko. Some people would call this recycling, but to me it is more relevant now. This makes me happy. Maybe the single will be re-released for the film too.

Yoko Ono, the wife of the late John Lennon, will reprise the couple’s 1969 Happy Christmas (War Is Over) war protest in 2006.

The original billboard campaign in New York will be given a global campaign in some of the world’s largest cities later this year.

The Lennon’s conducted the original protest in retaliation against the war mongering tactics of the Nixon administration. The Yoko 2006 protest sends a message to the Bush administration.

John Lennon was hounded by Nixon, who had to try and have the British rock star deported from the USA for speaking out. Nixon resigned from his position as US president in disgrace before he completed his chore.

Never in a million years, did we think that promoting World Peace could be dangerous. Were we naive? Yes, on that account, we were. John sings: ‘Nobody told me there’d be days like these.’ That was his true confession,” says Yoko Ono in a statement, “These songs have become relevant all over again. It’s almost as if John wrote these songs for what we are going through now.”

The story will be told in the new movie ‘The US vs John Lennon’ due shortly from Lionsgate Films.

The movie, done with the full support of Yoko Ono, features pieces together historic news footage to tell the tale.

11. I'm trying to
remember what gig it was. Fine most likely. Oh yes, it was great! Lol, this time of year there are more than I can keep track of. It was wonderful, great concert and we played well. I thought of John and Yoko at one point and it really helped me focus on what I was trying to say with my part. These special times come along now and again and it is really helpful if there is something to add to your thoughts as you play. Thank you for asking.

6. That's terrific.
Boy do I miss John. I've said many times that I wish that his voice, among others, could be heard today. It would be fascinating.

13. I've thought of making these as signs and putting them in my front yard...
I think if everyone who was against this war had these signs in their yard, it would be surprising because it would be most of the yards in the country.

Thank you Yoko - we still need to hear John's message. We still miss him and he is still inspiring us to strive for a better world.

IF you want it.

The sad fact is that most Americans don't care enough to want the war to be over...

That should refresh alot of memories. It's like saying, "Have we forgotten?" Great message for a pointless war.

18. She's risking the same fate as her husband for the same reason
High profile person takes anti-war stance.
Though she doesn't have Lennon's clout. He was removed right before Bush (and Reagan) came into power to ramp up the war machine. By a "lone nut" of course.

Aren't there so many "lone nuts" that they'd be tripping over each other?

19. John's songs become relevant all over agin
She's so right about that. Its one big Groundhog Day comparing Iraq to Vietnam. How could our leaders make the same stupid mistakes again and how could so many Americans let them?
