fema screws another city hit by a flood
rockford il was hit by a flash flood on sept 4 of this year and applied to fema for help. you would think a city that is represented by a ultra conservative federal politician would receive help immediately but that isn`t the case.....

1. The question is, should we even rebuild Rockford?
:sarcasm:

I mean, it's their own damn fault that they chose to live near a creek. Why can't we just find some higher ground somewhere else in Northern Illinois, or maybe Wisconsin, and rebuild the city there?

once again, :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

2. Funny you mention that.
If I recall correctly, under Clinton, FEMA did more or less exactly that--provided funding for flood victims to rebuild off the flood plain. Matter of fact, I think it was in that same general area.

3. I do recall something like that.
somewhere else in Illinois. But, it was a VERY small town (less than 1000 pop.?), so that was doable, not at all like Rockford -- or New Orleans, to which all the sarcasm above was, of course, referring.

6. Rockford seems to get flooded pretty regularly.
I lived in DeKalb for a while (1975-76) and remember that Rockford had floods to one degree or another both springs I when was there. It's undoubtedly not possible to relocate a whole town of that size--but utterly ridiculous and shameful that the normal relief just isn't there any more.

Clinton rebuilt FEMA from the wreckage that Poppy made of it, and it took a while, but it was a formidable agency by the time he finished. Now it's wrecked probably beyond repair, and it'll take years to come up with something that works as well as FEMA once did. Compassionate conservatism, my hindquarters. :grr:

4. So if Fema is not helping cities across the country with planning
prevention and disaster aid where is the money going?

This has to be one of the first investigations that the Dems will have to get going....

Do you realize that the world knows that not one of our major cities can recover fully from a disaster on it's own...and FEMA is an organization that is completely broken...the * cabal made sure of that....

This is just a fucking disaster for our fellow Americans....
