15. "It's been 3 Days! Didn't you fix the problem yet?" |
|
Sorry, Scruffy Schrubby, this problem can't be fixed with a phone call to some rich family friends.
I'm actually thinking he'll use this speech and State of the Union to try to blunt the Dems.
I predict that in about 6 months, so much shit will have been revealed, and so many Congressional supeonas will be ignored, that the general public will be howling for his resignation or impeachemnt if he does not resign.

17. I think he'll resign in late January.. |
|
He will not be able to handle a Dem Congress telling him what to do. It'll drive him (more) insane and his advisers will make him resign before he loses it completely on TV.

21. He can't do that without first changing the Veep. |
|
Cheney goes off to retire, Shrub replaces him with a groomed Repub. Perhaps McCain. Then Dimson gives Cheney a blanket presidential pardon.
THEN Chimpy resignes, McCain (or whoever) takes the White House, grants a blanket presidential pardon to The Villiage Idiot, then Weathervane McCain picks somebody to be Veep.
Cheney and Bush get away scot-free, the GOP keeps the White House. and McCain gets a boost up for the 2008 race. McCain could possibly in office for ten years under this scenario, as long as he takes office after inaugeration day 2006.

14. Aren't they trying to figure out if there will be an all out war or not? |
|
Saudis threatening to lower the price of oil to slow down Iran. Everyone is deciding if they are pulling the plug on the dollar? Cheney is with the Shia' and Iran as PNAC is - oil. The House of Saud is still with the Bushes and Carlyle? Everyone in the region, Russia, China, UK is involved.
Action in Jan makes sense - get to steal the Dem thunder and avoid those investigations.
We are in trouble. Our leaders brought us into a heap of trouble.

16. Unpleasant thought, yet very plausable |
|
Bush realizes that the "I'm a wartime president" mantle is wearing damn thin during two occupations but no real shooting war.
So, to save his own hide, he initiates another shooting war, this time with a much more capable enemy that can prolong combat for months. All to save his ass.

I hadn't thought of that. I figured he was just waiting until the sheeple forget about the ISG, but I think you're right. I wonder if it's going to work for him, though. I doubt it.

9. Why would anyone approve?! |
|
It's not like this is a sudden predicament -- he's already had WAYYY too long to decide on making changes.
Then again, isn't it true that in every crisis, BushCo has been woefully SLOW?!? SLOW to get out of his chair on 9/11, SLOW to respond to Katrina, SLOW to do anything in Iraq with any hope of mitigating the disaster.
How SLOW can they go?!

Everybody seems to be saying he's losing and has to form a plan to get out! He doesn't like that! He'srunning around taking to everybody, just hunting for that one guy or group who will still tell him he's OK and to continue to follow his heart!

11. His ideal plan: "Let's don't and say we did." |
|
I agree. His plan will be to change as little as possible, and dress it up in Political Jargon to disguise it as a "way forward for progress" blah blah blah... That's my guess, anyway.

22. there may be a hint of truth to that, |
|
personally I think Bush has nothing but shit for options and he's trying to find the one that stinks least.
I don't think it's because of stealing the Dem's thunder. I actually think this delay only strengthens it. If he decides to go along with the Dem's and starts phasing out the troops then he's agreeing and that makes the whole fiasco fall squarely on his shoulders. It also puts the Saudi's in a precarious position of having to be forced to do what they threatened to do and increase funding of their Sunni bretheren.
If he decides to put more forces in to counter the insurgency that's backing the Shia and forces a direct confrontation with the Saudis. Given their financial stakes in our economy, that may be a bad situation. Also, the people aren't for increasing troops in Iraq. The Dem's then have a strong argument that the President doesn't care about the people and puts the people against him. That's when impeachment arguments will really take hold, if Bush decides to flip the American people the bird.
And he can't just not do anything. That strategy is 3 yrs old and counting. Hasn't worked yet and will never work.

23. The Saudis threw a monkey wrench in Bushies "plans" |
|
by demanding the Sunnis be protected from slaughter. Cheney came back from his Saudi trip with all this good news and now they appear stumped. The bush plan is to stay the course, of course. Now if they add more troops the question is, does anyone know what these new troops should be doing other than the same with more? In other words, would they be allowed to maybe secure and area, Anbar (sp?), for instance and keep it secured.
When or how can they get the ordinary Iraqi a job? Busy hands and all that. Too late for the it appears as they get shot while applying. From day one this should have been the major goal. Some officer made this remark yesterday. Why did no one listen?
