6. Exactly. It's pretty transparent, but had to be said...
I don't want to speculate on whether he actually meant it or not, as I would probably again be disappointed by a fellow human being.

I wouldn't read too much into it.

I believe Mehlman meant every word of it, BUT, in his head he had five addiitonal words

"...after he resigns from office"
