Workers are being increasingly impoverished in the U.S. According to the New York Times, some 25 percent of workers labor for poverty wages. The bottom fifth of all taxpayers earned below $11,166 . This increasing poverty for workers coincides with global trade agreements and a reduced percentage of workers in unions. Wages are currently rising a little in the U.S., but there’s a long way to go for workers to recover from five straight years of income decline when adjusted for inflation.
