Chris Matthews Tells Tony Snow He's Best Press Secretary in 50 Years
Doing his part to sell the president's new war plan for Iraq, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow made the rounds of late-afternoon cable news talk shows today.

On "Hardball" with Chris Matthews at MSNBC he fielded some tough questions smoothly, if vaguely. He defended Secretary of State Rice for calling the sending of more than 20,000 troops to Iraq an "augmentation," not an "escalation."

Perhaps impressed with his spinning abilities, Matthews bid him farewell with: "You are the best press secretary since Jim Haggerty."

Haggerty, of course, was a legendary press secretary under President Eisenhower in the 1950s.

Then Snow was off to visit the big bad Wolf.

1. It was weird because Matthews was grilling him, then he says that trash out of nowhere
bizarre.

2. Ewwww.
Wasn't Tweety appearing to have some human traits a few weeks ago? Snow is better at obfuscation than his predecessor but he's still a liar.

5. Actually, he is awful at it. 70% oppose Iraq escalation.
He comes off as condescending and rude.

4. Chris Matthews should either
drink the kool-aid everyday, or get off the kool-aid.

He makes my head spin. You never know where he's coming from, and where he is coming from changes by the minute.

He is undeserving of respect, in my book.

6. Well...
... from the point of view of those who hired him for the job, he is actually pretty good. much better than the pathetic guy who preceded him.

11. So what.
The "best press secretary (or best PR guy)" just means he's good at applying lipstick on a pig. A pig is still a pig.

I don't see this as a thumbs up to the fecal matter he's been spinning into gold. Tweety's been great at taking down the war-cheerleaders and armchair generals since he turned on the war.
