Matthews Battles Snow Over Iran Attack...
Matthews Battles Snow Over Iran Attack, Says He Fears ‘Extra-Constitutional War’

Tonight on MSNBC, Chris Matthews aggressively questioned White House Press Secretary Tony Snow about whether President Bush’s rhetoric last night was a “precursor for a rationale for an attack” on Iran.

Matthews said he feared the Bush administration would use a skirmish with Iranian fighters in Iraq as a reason to “bomb the hell out of them and hit their nuclear installations without any without any action by Congress. That’s the scenario I fear, an extra-constitutional war is what I’m worried about.” Snow told Matthews “you have been watching too many old movies,” but Matthews interrupted. “No, I’ve been watching the war in Iraq, is what I’ve been watching.” Watch it:

2. Nice to see Tweety abandon the "sunny nobility" crap and start to look honestly
scared shitless by the guy he thought looked so good in his codpiece. Even if we are seeing a gradual shift in pundits' opinion, as they come over to the side of the generals, American public et al, I wonder is their conversion too late. It's close to the eleventh hour now. It makes GWB deliriously happy to defy those whom he can defy, and he has been given all the tools. He will bring us all down, and I think that thought thrills him. I thought his father had some control over him, but I don't think so now. God help us all.

3. But then there's this.....
Chris Matthews Tells Tony Snow He's Best Press Secretary in 50 Years
Doing his part to sell the president's new war plan for Iraq, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow made the rounds of late-afternoon cable news talk shows today.

On "Hardball" with Chris Matthews at MSNBC he fielded some tough questions smoothly, if vaguely. He defended Secretary of State Rice for calling the sending of more than 20,000 troops to Iraq an "augmentation," not an "escalation."

Perhaps impressed with his spinning abilities, Matthews bid him farewell with: "You are the best press secretary since Jim Haggerty."

5. well, "best press secretary" may mean
the best at applying lipstick on a pig. Not much of a compliment there. A pig is still a pig.

It's all interpretation. Say whgat you will, Tweety has been great since he turned on the war. Between Tweety, David Schuster and K.O., we're finally getting reality-based analysis of this 'war' and it's benefactors.
