McCain/Lieberman in 2008?
Could this be the pay off for Lieberman? To be McCain's running mate in 2008?

There has to be some reason why he is selling his soul to the repugs other than wanting to stop partisanship.

5. It could?
Since McCain is going right, by having lieberman he could try to keep his moderates from going democrat.

Also since right wing nuts seem to be pro-Israel and anti-Arab, they may be willing to hold their nose in voting for a Jew. This is especially true if Hilary is the democratic nominee. We all know how much they HATE her.

7. McCain and Lieberman are pro-war when 60%+ of this country are not.
That might hurt them both, one can hope.

10. Who leaned right? Gore and/or Kerry certainly didn't do that.

11. Nascar Dads/Soccer Moms
Those were the buzz words or code words for southern white men and white suburban moms who had left the democratic party and were voting republican.

Maybe "right" was too strong of a word. I probably should have said center. Dems, running for higher office, are focus on moving to the center to court moderate repubs or independents who vote repub.

The only one who has talked about the poor and disenfranchised is Edwards. What's going to happen after Monday? Will anyone be talking about racial issues on Tuesday?

12. You are full of baloney. Read up on the candidates and, in about a
year, get back to me. I will just about bet you change your mind, even though you're supporting your NC guy.

14. Thanks for telling me
who I will be supporting in 2008. I guess there is no need to research on the other candidates or potential candidates now.

Thanks a million babylonsister!!!

15. I'm sorry, and you are right, I don't know where you're coming from.
I have a dad who lived in NC who's a liberal, a brother who is a major rethug who loves Nascar, so I'm making assumptions.
My apologies. I also based my assumptions on the opinions of Dad, who knows Edwards, but I will vote for just about anyone else than who we have now, the sooner the better. Edwards is not my first choice, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

21. Edwards is NOT the only one to talk about the poor. He's just
the only one the media reports about talking about this issue.

Sigh.

16. If Lieberman flips to R and gives them the Senate
He will be the GOP's golden boy, he could be their VP candidate in a heartbeat.

17. I totally agree
my friend said his whole town seemed to go with bush/cheney when Gore chose Lieberman. Because of his Jewish faith. Surely several percent of voters voted for Bush because of that. Just like if a guy who happened to be gay ran, double digits would vote for the other candidate if he was straight.

I hope for the day when a lesbian runs against a Jewish black man. I will say YES! This country is getting beyond it's problems.

2. McCain is toast imo for being in favor of this war.
I think Lieberman is selling his soul because he wants to save Israel by whatever means necessary, as do many of our politicians. I don't know if that's a conditioned response, but it's getting tiresome.
I used to think the same way but have faced reality.

18. Only as a third party
McCain is obsessed with becoming President.
If he loses in the Republican primaries, then McCain and Lieberman will likely run on a third party "unity" ticket.
It would be great for us!
Split the 35% who support Bush and the war. The Democrat wins easily.

19. McCain is craven, but he ain't stupid...
Lieberman is only popular among certain Beltway folks - most people in this country are repulsed by him.

20. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHY THIS IS SUCH A POPULAR IDEA?
Why is this such a persistent rumor? I'm not saying it couldn't be true, but I keep hearing that "people are talking" about this ticket. I haven't heard anybody talking about such a ticket, and frankly I think it would be a stupid decision on both their parts. But why is this being talked about so much?

22. Yes please....pretty please...
If you think the Reich Wing is going to vote for a Jew on the ticket... they already smell a rat with McCain... the only chance they'd go out and vote for this ticket is if a Clinton is on the opposing ticket. That would be a great unifier, imho. Still, it wouldn't be enough...
