What happens if Congress enacts Shrub's Iraq war supplemental in February? |
|
Congress will be presented with a $100 - $120 billion Iraq war supplemental in February. Rep. Kucinich has said this will provide sufficient funding for the Iraq war through the end of Shrub's term in office.
Rep. Kucinich has also cited the 1999 Campbell v. Clinton court decision -- "Congress had appropriated funds for the war and therefore chose not to remove US forces."
It is time for Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Reid to show some leadership in Congress to end the war in Iraq now and bring our soldiers home. If this supplemental is approved by Congress, they paid for it and, therefore, bought it. All the hearings, investigations and subpoenas by Congress will not bring an end to this war and the 2006 mid-term elections will be for naught.

5. Defunding the "surged" soldiers is a ... |
|
disastrous mistake!
We will be blamed for everything that goes wrong in Iraq, particularly if the Congress then approves the new Iraq supplemental in a few weeks, excluding the "surge" portion of the funding. We can't leave our soldiers that are there currently to die.
They only solution is for the Congressional leadership to call for redeployment of "all" of our soldiers and defund the Iraq war by not enacting the new $100 billion supplemental.
