Where is Hillary???
Can somebody PLEASE explain to me what is up with Hillary's silence on Bush's surge in Iraq? Is she for it or against it? Barack Obama is all over the place opposing the war and where is Hillary? Some Republicans have been more vocal and against the surge than the Senator from New York has been. I will say this, if Hillary supports the surge, she can forget about running for President in 2008.

16. She postponed the news conference originally because
someone in her party that had traveled to Iraq with her was ill, so sayeth a talking head on the tee-vee in reference to Obama's announcement of forming an exploratory committee the day after it was to be held. Sorry, don't recall who said it; just thought I'd throw it in there FWIW.

5. Well it seemed to be a very grey matter in regards to her stance.
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 01:07 PM by Cascadian
It all looked too vague from my standpoint whether she was for it or against such a escalation of the current quandry the U.S. is partaking in.

11. Yes, she has indeed
but no matter how many times it's pointed out, she'll still get accused of not speaking up.

She could tell the entire country that Bush's surge plan is a joke, and she'll still get bashed for it here. You can bet your bottom dollar that any time Hillary denounces Bush's Iraq plan, she'll get accused of doing it for some self-serving purpose, like to get herself elected, so they'll say.

4. I think she has been over in Iraq.
A lot of the strategists think she will return and take a stand against the war. She will rationalize that her change in position stems from her recent visit.

7. She's holding a news conference today at 3:00 est.
I heard that she was also on one of the morning shows, GMA or the Today Show and gave a preview of her comments. BTW, she is AGAINST Shrub's escalation!

8. CBS/AP: Sen. Clinton Against Troop Buildup In Iraq
(CBS/AP) Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, back from a trip to Iraq and Afghanistan, said Wednesday she is against President Bush's call to increase U.S. troops in Iraq.

"I am opposed to this escalation," Clinton, D-N.Y., told CBS News' The Early Show. However, Clinton added, "I am for putting more troops in Afghanistan." (Watch the video)

Appearing on network television and radio shows to discuss her recent trip, Clinton, the expected front-runner for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, was quick to seize the spotlight the day after Illinois Sen. Barack Obama took a major step toward entering the race.

Clinton based her opinions on talks with U.S. military leaders in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as with the Iraqi government, including Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki.

9. She is now all over the morning programs and is giving some speech
She thinks she can whip up a bunch of support and cut into Obama's announcement yesterday.
I've read her numbers are just not moving. She is not gaining in support. People already have thier minds made up and so she is stuck with the numbers. Her negatives and positives are even. 50-50.
So, her speech is not going to help her. It may drive some away concidering her formidable skill in boring people to death whenever she speaks.

12. The news and the internet is your friend...
She expressed opposition on the Dec. 19th Today show, reiterated and hardened it the night of Bush's speech, and yet again this morning on CBS...

Would you like her to send you a personalized note next?
