I didn't include Conservative Democrats or Liberal Republicans because a) there may not be enough of either of them left to make a difference, and b) when in doubt, they'd probably just vote for the other party instead of switching. I'm open to suggestions, though.

Rove made a big deal out of fundies staying home during election 2000 that he courted their vote for 2004. But now we find out the fundies were being played for chumps. I don't think fundies will forget this...

4. fwiw, I think traditional repubs will try to find a moderate dem...

and see if they can get the party back from the right-wing whackjobs who have hijacked it. Maybe they (the "legacy" Rs) can contribute to a slight leftward shift to help balance us.

The guns, god and gays clowns will be whipped in to a frenzy as usual and will pull even harder the other way, though.

The two ends of the R party are speeding away from each other...perhaps they'll just rip apart, splitting the vote and losing for the next several cycles!

3. The Religious Reich

I think they're taking the advice of the guy who wrote that tell-all about the "Office of Faith-Based Initiatives" and taking a breather from politics. Still reeling from scandals surrounding their darlings (DeLay, Ted Haggard, et al.).

That's like saying that every liberal Democrat in Pennsylvania sat out the election because Bob Casey was the nominee... I don't think so..

..like saying every liberal Democrat in Montana sat out the election because Jon Tester was the nominee.. I don't think so..

..like saying every liberal Democrat in Virginia sat out the election because Jim Webb was the nominee.. I don't think so..

..like saying each term that Governor Dean won in Vermont was done without the help of liberal Democrats because he was a moderate who the NRA consistently endorsed.. I don't think so..

It's like saying that liberal Democrats sat out voting for Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore, etc. because of their (one time or current -- who knows) affiliation with the DLC.. I don't think so..

The FACT is.. regardless of how divided Democrats may be during primaries -- --- they ultimately come together to support the nominee - whether that candidate is liberal, moderate, or somewhere inbetween.
