4. Finally, Someone Showing Real Class
It is good to see that people at DU are willing to speak sincerely from their hearts, rather than winning cheap points for some ridiculously miniscule sense of power.

It is such people that make political debate a real pleasure to engage.

You are doing a real service to Hillary Clinton by making the transition to her candidacy smoother.

Kudos on that one.

34. How Does That Make You Less of a Winner?
In all seriousness, you really should have more respect for yourself.

"Whiner threads?"

When Dean dropped out, Kerry supporters were very gracious, despite some real vitriol expressed by the understandably frustrated Deaniacs.

Whatever little smug satisfaction you might gain by rubbing someone's face in a disappointment, you might consider the possibility that you might end up liking yourself more if you were more sympathetic.

And, in some small way, you'd be contributing to making the world a slightly better place to hang out in.

Whether you like it or not, you represent your candidate on the board. You are her evangelist, as it were. The last thing you want to do is make people less inclined to check her out because you feel like you have to engage in tit for tat with another politician's supporters.

62. Should we draft a legal agreement, in case you don't pay up?
I have a hunch you'll conveniently "forget" this little bet when it becomes clear HRC won't win the 2008 primary.

So if you're *really* going to bet me on Mrs. Clinton's prospects, I propose we create a legally binding written and signed agreement, so I can take you to court when I get stiffed on the bet.

I don't want to go to the trouble of drafting a legally binding document when my suspicion is that you'll waste my time and refuse to sign it.

So, unless you're planning any visits to Phoenix soon, I'll need some way of sending you this document so you can read over it and sign it.

55. If I bet you Hillary would never be president, we'd have to wait until her death.
You may have nothing better to do, but I'm not going to place a bet that lasts for possibly 20 years.

If HRC doesn't win in 2008, she'll never win, IMHO. I'm betting you on '08 because that's when she will run.

If she somehow ascends to the presidency after that, be assured I will honor every penny of the bet as I pick my jaw up off the floor. But that's even less likely than her winning in 2008, isn't it?

But I am 100% sure you will find some Clintonesque way of weaseling out of this bet. Meaning all your confidence and bluster about 2008 is really just for show.

66. Fine, agree to a legally binding document and we'll do it.
I'll bet you $10,000 that HRC will never be POTUS. Ever.

I am even willing to wait as much as 20 years for my money, if that's what you are proposing.

But I want a legally binding agreement if we're really going to bet on this, so I can take you or your estate to court and get my money when this bet ends.

If you're so confident in HRC's abilities, then you'll have no problem signing such a statement. After all, it means if she somehow does win, I owe you $10,000.

You may not be doing anything with your time right now, but I refuse to take time off just to leave the country and draft this. This may surprise you, but I do have obligations.

If you keep me posted on Iowa gambling laws, however (in other words, don't make ME do all the work), then I will happily draft it. Just don't lose your box of crayons; you still need to sign it.

So once again, you expect ME to do all the work, put money down on lawyers, and get the thing drafted.

Meanwhile you sit back in Iowa and do nothing, pay nothing, contribute nothing.

Sorry, pal, that's not how it works. If there's going to be any work done, I expect to meet you halfway on it, not do it all myself.

You would be a real hoot if you ever got elected to Congress, I'm sure.

Then again, I doubt you'd ever get elected to anything - pissing other people off seems to be your forte.

78. K_Jerome -- I'm asking you, begging you to please alert the mods
to this thread that you started, and tell them to lock it, because you made a mistake. I mean -- the primaries are a year away. So some Kerry people are mad at Hillary today. Well, they're upset. But what's your problem? You should have calmly asked for proof and then shrugged it off as upset Kerry supporters. Please consider killing this thread. It's ugly, and it's hurtful.

57. A spirited debate about the Democratic contenders for the Pesidency
is a good debate. It's a dogfight between candidates. My Dem vs. your Dem. So what?

John Kerry announced he isn't going run and a lot of DUers are sad about that.

Why make it personal & vindictive? Why the slap in the face?

What have you won? Enjoy other people's pain much?

And fyi - I never joined in on those Clinton vs. Kerry threads as I like the Democratic field (all of them and hope Gore joins in also)..

And neither do A LOT of Democrats. A lot of them who respect her, and like her!

She has no better chance then Obama or Edwards at the nomination, NONE! Despite what NATIONAL, not Iowa or NH, but NATIONAL polls would tell you. A year out, mind you!

So I tell you this out of respect for her, not out of malice. I'm a Kerry supporter who won't support her for the nomination.

Democratic party circles. It exudes welcome and participation in the bigger picture, the broader canvas, the individual, particular detail among the broader strokes.

Lovely.

127. I can't make this one, which is my loss, and I would have
loved to meet you and shake your hand.

That November election pushed Dubya against the wall, and the pigheaded little twerp still insists on his "surge."

Then this afternoon I listened to Chuck Hagel and John Kerry rip Bush a new one on the Iraq escalation. I've never heard Hagel so fierce before. And Kerry was his usual thorough self.

I want Dubya to live for another 50 years at least, so he can read, year after year, what his legacy amounted to. He's earned those low, low approval ratings. Let the historians have at him.

You have yourself a tremendous trip to Washington. I'll be there with you in spirit.

Edited on Wed Jan-24-07 05:29 PM by Dr Fate
I'm not so sure I agree-but seeing how many in the DLC supported Lieberman against the DEM nominee-or listening to Carvile/Begalla dissing Dean- I can see why some Kerry supporters or former Dean supporters think that the "high ups" try to keep down candidates who enjoy grass-roots suppprt...

In any event, BLMs thread invites discussion on how our leadership goes about picking candidates-it does not attack Hill's DU supporters- your thread merely attempts to insult former Kerry supporters and raises no arguable issues.

We all know that is all Hillary has- that is why we "hate on her" so much.

I remember when the media and war supporting conservative Democrats all claimed that the grass-roots "have an irrational hatred of Bush" rather than an honest disagreement on ISSUES as well. It appears that not-so-great minds think alike.

Good luck with that old chesnut.

...cements my opinion. With fans like this troll, who needs enemies.

Anyone who gives turncoat James Carville one stinking dime for his turncoat behavior on Election Night when he gave away Kerry's plans in Ohio is no friend of mine.

Until Mrs. Clinton fires Carville and after he apologizes publicly to Kerry, I certainly plan of working for any other candidate in 2008.

Until Mrs. Clinton apologizes to John Kerry for her pathetic comments on his so-called "botched joke", I will do all I can to make sure that my preferred candidate wins.

At the moment, I'm for Obama. It will be interesting to see what Carville The Turncoat has up his sleeve for him.

138. Greetings to you as well
Senator Kerry said it with class and leadership. I look forward to his efforts in the Senate, although my heart is certainly a little broken today.

Wow...am I whining?

148. No, you aren't "whining," but you are doing what you always do
on DU -- you're making perfect sense. I loved the idea of an intelligent soul in the White House, and after the Ohio debacle, we were left with two consecutive terms of a horrendously stupid man instead.

A compulsive, egotistical chimp with evil Dick Cheney organ-grinding the pro-war music in the background.

The nation deserved a chance to be more intelligently led.

We're a year out now from the Iowa caucuses. Let's elect us a strong ticket and kick a little ass.

106. there is no need for you
to be an asshole, k jerome

even though I have spent a good deal of time on this board defending HRC (and will continue to do so), if Kerry had decided to run I would have supported him.

You're not doing Hillary Clinton any favors by starting threads like this.

129. Indeed, if HRC read this, she probably wouldn't like k_jerome very much.
A sentiment now shared by much of DU.

Good job, k_jerome. You're a uniter, not a divider.

133. Hello, Alexander. I hope you won't mind my stealing your
idea, but I've taken the liberty to emailing the link of this thread to Senator Clinton's office.

I think she'd want to be keep up-to-date on the zeal of her supporters.

Although it might give Carville The Turncoat some pointers, that was a good move.

146. How come your posts and threads lack substance?
You seem to be a one trick pony. You have nothing good to say, and thats it. You bring nothing to the table, literally.

At least BLM's thread that you are crying foul about had a point, and was worth debating.

162. Oh- more weak, unfunny semantics tricks- I knew that was all you had.
Do you really think that hanging on my use of the phrase "regular old Democrat" defeats my points or helps Hillary in any way, shape or form?

No wait- dont answer that- I forgot-you are not here to defend Hillary- we all know that is impossible.

156. I often wonder just how far you will go.
I would never put you on ignore because I think it is important to see what is going on. I just took the one or two I had on ignore off.

What you have posted is tasteless, thoughtless, and meanspirited.
