Email I just sent to Lieberman |
|
I just can't stand the nausea I feel every time I look at this person, and I had to vent, so I went to his website and sent him an email.
--
Senator Lieberman,
You are a complete disgrace, to your political party, to your religion, and to your country. As a democrat and a Jew, I am ashamed of you and your actions particularly in your support of this UNJUST WAR which is based on LIES, and you know it's true. You should be ashamed as well. I only wish that you would have lost the last election and we instead would have someone in office who cares about this country, our soldiers in Iraq, and the world. Evidently you don't.

4. in the ear? that's a new one. does it imply |
|
that there is a large hollow cavity inside his head, to accommodate such action?

7. Not original -- it's a quote from the South Park movie |

3. I hope you're a constituent |
|
I tried sending an e mail to him many months ago. Democracy for America even provided the link. After several weeks' wait, I got a response: a form letter stating that Senator Lieberman only reads and responds to letters by constituents.

5. well you can lie on the form. |
|
worst that can happen is that a response letter goes out to a fake address?
to be honest, I don't want to hear his form letter reply anyway. I want to see him resign, or just freaking wake up and do what's right.

8. Even if you had been, nobody of influence would've read your letter |
|
Opinion letters are usually read by an intern. If they get a lot of letters or calls on a particular issue then they will start a tally but rarely does that matter. IMO, writing your congressman has largely been replaced by polling. They try to gauge what their constituents think (if they even care) by polls instead of by letters and phone calls.
Sometimes, it's a good thing though. I interned for a Senator this summer and you would not believe the amount of calls that we got supporting the gay marriage amendment. I'd say that maybe we got one call against it for every 30 calls that we got for it.

I have a friend who is a lobbyist. He says that a proverbial "bell" goes off when they get a certain number of letters on the same issue.
I never thought he would read my letter. I just had to vent.
I'm guessing I'm not the only one writing to him with similar sentiments. So hopefully my letter helped make the "bell" go off.

6. One mistake, Lieberman is not a disgrace to his political party because he is NOT a Democrat |
|
Connecticut Democrats made it very clear last August that they had no desire to see him representing them as their nominee for the US Senate. He left the party to run as an independent and therefore he is no longer a Democrat.

he's been a democrat all his life, and the only reason he jumped ship is because it was the only way he could get elected. he's caucussing with the democrats. so i'm justified in what I say.

12. I understand, I just personally think we should stop referring to him as a Democrat |
|
As far as I'm concerned, August of last year was a huge victory for those of us who can't stand to see Lieberman trying to represent our party. The Democratic voters of Connecticut made it official that they didn't want him representing their party. Now whenever Lieberman goes on Meet the Press he represents Lieberman, not the Democratic Party as far as I'm concerned.
Reluctantly we keep him in our caucus to keep the GOP out of power.

11. As a Jew also, I must say that he doesn't "feel" Jewish to me... |
|
I can't put it any way other than that. Maybe other Jews will understand what I mean.
I think we have a kind of "Jewdar" if you will, and to me, it has always come up blank when listening to Lieberman.
He is a smarmy, proselytizing jerk and I have never heard a Jew who sounded so preachy and smug. Usually I associate that with other religious movements...
I mean no offense to anyone by this, just my feeling.
