Clark should start a 3rd party- Called the "Patriot Party"-Clark/McCain 04
It should be called the "Patriot Party."
We can run Clark and McCain.
We'll out flag Karl Rove & co.

Final Result:

Clark/McCain: 38
Bush/Cheney: 33
Kerry/Edwards: 29

11. Clark is Democratic too.
I'm not sure about the original poster. McCain is a loyal lapdog for the Bush corporate cabal. Clark would have nothing to do with him.

I'd call him "Orrin Hatch with good PR skills."

12. Not a chance
Going third party would be poison for Clark's political future and professional and personal reputation.

Clark wants Bush gone, and it won't happen with a third party nod.

Clark doesn't need the presidency, and I honestly think he's too good for it. He's got a great and prosperous future ahead of him, away from the limelight.

because hopefully Kerry, Edwards, or Dean will be running for a second term.

I'd much rather Clark wait to run against Hillary for the Dem nomination in 2012.

Democratic Party 3 ways. One for the Democrats, and minority parties for Clark and Dean/Green.

Great going guys.

24. Such an outcome would probably not produce
an electoral majority, and would cause Bush to be re-Selected.

In order to win the presidency, you need a majority in the electoral college. If not, it goes to a vote in congress, and since it congress is controlled by Republicans they would pick Bush.

25. Sorry, a third party is not welcome here. But I admire your nerve.
Clark/McCain would indeed bring out the Republican vote that is wholly disenchanted with Bush.

The Congress, both Republican and Democratic, might not be so enchanted. You think?

I mean, putting a sword in two metaphorical backs at once is an achievement, but tends to make one's own back vulnerable.

I think this was an impressive attempt to sabotage the election and I salute you.

26. It wouldn't work, and Clark wouldn't do it, neither would McCain.
Clark is a man of his word, and I think he thought long and hard before declaring his allegiance to the Democrats -- one of the reasons the whole Dean/Kerry 'Clark is a Republican' cheapshots were so low, and demonstrated the character issues both these men have.

McCain is a Republican through and through.

Where would the money come from? Where would the natural power base come from? Such a party would depend upon an appeal to the center, but the center-rights are still loyal to Bush, and Kerry is a center-leftist.

Let's just relax, catch our breath for a few days, listen to what Clark himself has to say, and take it from there. I have a low opinion of Kerry's ethics, but there are far worse people out there, many of them Democrats, some of them in this race.

Edited on Wed Feb-11-04 12:13 AM by Edge
It'll make Democrats look bad, it'd be assinine, and it'd show Clark was a sore loser. Also, it'll further divide the Democratic Party.

And if you remember your US History, anyone who breaks off a party and forms a branch of it...loses the election, hands down.

34. Nonsense
There is no future for a third party in this country.

If you want to do something, rebuild the Democratic Party so we will have a real two-party system again.

Otherwise you're just pissing into the wind. Don't waste your time.

38. McCain is appealing on the surface
McCain is appealing on the surface, but not so much so when you look under the hood. His positions are nearly all right-wing -- but his campaign finance reform efforts have given him an outsider/reformist reputation.
