Tell Congress: Support the Iraq War De-Escalation Act

Tell Congress: Stop the Escalation and Bring the Troops Home

Congress authorized the president to start this war, they voted to appropriate the funds to continue it, and now it's time for them to vote to end it.

Yesterday in the Senate, pro-war senators used the filibuster to stop a resolution expressing disapproval of the escalation of the war in Iraq.

So now it's time for binding legislation to compel the president to bring our troops home. Unfortunately, many in Congress are feeling timid about acting to stop the escalation with the strongest possible measures -- so they need to hear from you.

Fortunately, just this morning, Representatives Mike Thompson and Patrick Murphy introduced the Iraq War De-Escalation Act of 2007, which will compel the president to stop the escalation, and instead start redeploying troops out of Iraq by May 1 of this year.

This is a pivotal moment: your representative needs to hear your voice right now, loudly and clearly, demanding concrete steps to start bringing the troops home. Many groups are reaching out to their members this week to raise our collective voice -- and it's important for each of us to take every opportunity to act.

Act now by telling your senators and representative: stop playing games, and bring the troops home.

It's been three months since the American people voted to shake up Congress, sending the clearest possible anti-war message to our national leaders. Now is the time for binding legislative moves to stop the war -- not timidity among anti-war leaders in Congress or game-playing among pro-war ones.

Anti-war leaders in Congress know what needs to be done. Congress authorized the president to start this war; they voted to appropriate the funds to continue it, and now it's time they vote to end it.

Send a message to your member of Congress now.

After you take action, please magnify your impact by sharing this message with everyone you know who opposes sending more troops into the Iraq quagmire.

Thank you for working to build a better world.

1. Contacted both senators and congressman
You are on the money. Bush came out attacking today in Virginia. Railing against tax increases after offering up an absurd war budget for 08. I emailed him, too, and told him that he was the fault for this huge debt. When you email Shrub's White House, you should courteously address him as Mr President, but then tell him how lousy he is. BushCo knows full well that spending the Treasury on Mideast adventures for oil profiteering and cutting taxes for his base will eventually leave nothing left for the general population. That was their strategy.

Please contact your congress and house members now and tell them to block Shrub's every move. Every single thing that he has done since taking office has been contrary to the needs of our country and its' own people.

As Democrats, we have to seize the moment or lose it. The Bush Administration hijacked our country, robbed the Treasury, and plan to leave it in shreds in 2 years. We need to let BushCo realize that his charade is over and we hold him responsible for his mess.

3. Thanks and I like your attitude.
This is a crucial time for us. They don't intend to leave Iraq and never have. This entire sacrifice has been to privatize Iraq's oil. Bush sent our soldiers to die for oil rights in Iraq for his buddies. And.....the crooks never want any alternative energy sources for our people. Never.
