now that Edwards has lost his lead in South Carolina to a Northerner…
does anyone continue to think that he's really got a chance at winning the nomination?

if so, in what scenario do you see this playing out?

1. Deaniac babble
Yes, yes, your guy will probably get the nomination, pruner.

But he'll get shellacked by Bush, so I hope you're happy about that, because it's almost inevitable.

2. please correct me if I'm wrong…
but I believe that the most recent national polls show that Dean does best in a head-to-head match-up against Bush.

:spank:

6. By how much?
Edited on Wed Dec-17-03 01:30 AM by _Jumper_
With his name ID and the fact that he has received infinately more media coverage than any other candidate surely he must have a subtantial lead in this area.

11. Edwards has outspent Dean on advertising by a wide margin…
he doesn't seem to get much bang for his bucks.

15. Nationally?
I was replying to your comment regarding Dean's strength in national polls. How much more exposure has Dean gotten than the other candidates nationally? How much of an advantage for Dean has that translated to vis-a-vis the others in a head-to-head matchup with Bush?

16. I'd guess Dean has outspet Edwards nationally…
because Dean runs ads in more states than anyone else.

but Edwards spent more in early primary states (IA, NH & SC) than any other candidate.

17. So how much of an advantage has that translated into...
...in national head-to-head matchups with Bush? Surely Dean will be significantly ahead of the others because the people are more familar with his positions.

18. match-ups against Bush don't matter at this time
the ads during the general election will be totally different.

Dean's relative weakness in them raises a red flag IMO.

Face it: right now Dean is doing poorly against Bush despite all the attention he has received.

That being said, one can plausibly argue that anti-Dean misinformation is the reason for this and that after the public learns about his real message their view of him will improve.

8. VT70 - Can you answer this question?
For arguments sake lets say he'll get shellacked by Bush. (Which he won’t, remember 1992?) Yet your candidate can’t beat Dean, what do you think that says about your candidate?

14. What's it say about the voters?
That's the question, not the candidate. The anti-war voters and pretenders are driving the primary debate, even though most of America doesn't agree with them. Well, we're finally getting that voice heard loudly. But the majority of Americans disagree. We already lost that debate in 2002. It's political suicide to do it again.

24. It is truly ironic that a Kerry supporter...
would be so contemptuous of anti-war voters.

They could have been Kerry's natural constituency.

Kerry had a distinguished career as a Vietnam war protester.

His vote for IWR hurst him, of that can be no possible doubt.

He has also run a weak campiagn, in my opinion, and I can't fot the life of me understand why.

He has so much to offer, but you ahve be able to win the primaries in order to get a place in the general.

For whateve reason, he has so far failed to gnerate signififcant support.

It is tragic.

7. He'll have to win South Carolina.
Simple answer. Same as before that poll came out.

Good thing these polls don't count as votes.

It's not nice to rub this sort of thing in. Edwards supporters are well aware of his chances.

26. Starts with false assumption. Maybe you should take debate
classes?

Sort of like starting a conversation with, "Now that Edwards has registered to be a Republican, how is South Carolina going to vote?" Well,......the starting assumption is false, so the entire question is moot.

Oh, yeah. He's one of those real brave (alleged) Democrats who sided with CowBooties to invade Iraq. Whatever happened to him?
