Interesting Insight on the Inexperience Argument |
|
Out of all the contenders, this is a list of how long they've all been in politics
Barack Obama - 10 years in politics (and counting) John Edwards - 6 years in politics Rudy Guiliani - 7 years in politics Sam Brownback - 10 years in politics (and counting) Mike Huckabee - 10 years in politics Mitt Romney - 4 years in politics!!! (became Govenor in 2003 and wasn't re-elected for a 2nd term...before he was a Govenor, he was a "businessman") Tom Tancredo - 7 years in politics Tom Vilsack - 8 years in politics Dennis Kucinich - 10 years in politics (and counting) Bill Richardson - 4 years in politics (and counting)
The only people that have more than 10 years political experience are Hillary Clinton (I'm counting her time as a 1st lady...that's hands on right there), Joe Biden, John McCain, Al Gore (who isn't running), and Chris Dodd! That's only 4 potentials with more than 10 years political experience...4/14. It boggles my mind how the media can bring up Obama's "inexperience", when Richardson and Romney have only been in politics for 4 years total!!!

2. Lincoln had a term in Congress. He did ok. |
|
Rumsfeld has been in government for decades and he botched the whole show in Iraq.
Quantifying experience isn't a reliable gauge of future effectiveness.

3. Um, Dennis Kucinich was elected Mayor of Cleveland in 1977. |
|
He was the youngest mayor, 31, of any major American city. He lost his bid for re-election in 1979 and didn't re-enter politics until 1994 when he was elected to the Ohio State Senate.
Not too quibble either, but the Mittster's father George was Governor of Michigan during the 1960's as well. I know that shouldn't count but let's face it having a family member in national politics doesn't hurt. Take Rich Daley, the present Mayor of Chicago as an example...
Don't get me wrong, I'm so excited about Barack Obama announcing tomorrow I can't sleep. Just wanted to set the facts straight.
