Screw All This Draft Gore Business! F**k That!
Hillary should ask him to be her VP. Hillary was awesome in that town hall meeting. Gore can't run right now with the media so heavily against him.

Who wants CLINTON/GORE 2008?!!

Seriously. That would be the rapture - people would be cheering in the streets. It would be a "Bobby Kennedy" moment.

Gore's been vice president. I think he's the more qualified of the two to be the president. And I don't really need a Clinton back in the White House either....I think Obama would make a great VP!

But hey, if Cronus Protagonist doesn't like Gore, he can vote for Hillary in the primary. That's democracy. :)

5. At this point, Gore is a million miles away ideologically from Hillary Clinton
Edited on Mon Feb-12-07 06:03 PM by brentspeak
After being robbed of the presidency in 2000, and then having to watch the undeserving victor lay waste over national policy and turn Iraq into Stalingrad, Gore has jettisoned all DLC-type positions from his system.

And stopped listening to the consultants, some of whom were definitely DLC-types, tell him that speaking his mind wasn't going to win him votes.

10. Actually
I do understand it. We all feel that Gore was a victim in 2000, and he was. But we shouldn't let our sympathy for Gore cloud our capacity to think rationally about it. Once we set aside our human emotions towards Gore, we understand that most people think he's a buffoon.

15. facts
An Inconvenient Truth is the 3rd highest grossing documentary of all time. Popular.

It's nominated for an Oscar- a big sign of acceptance.

He's nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize not the Nobel Buffoon Prize.

This is all just fun hoopla of course. If you want to understand his appeal here, go back and read his speeches over the past few years. He was right about Iraq in 2002. He has come out against the concept of a Unitary Executive and detailed all of the Constitutional issues at stake right now. He has talked baout torture and renditions. He has been brave when others were silent about what really matters.

I like Al Gore, but I don't think most of the country perceives him as being presidential anymore. My friends were laughing when he showed up on the Grammys last night (I'm still not entirely sure why he was there . . . ) I love Al, and I think his current role (superstar environmentalist) suits him best.

16. Like Hillary is to be taken any more seriously
What of substance or meaning has she truly done? Helped ban flag burning? Vote to send us to Iraq, an unwinnable war? At least Gore gets it. We are ruining our planet and our system of government is down the tubes. We have the very few, the priveleged in charge. Hillary and other just don't get it. I will never understand the lack of respect Gore gets from some on this board. He went to hell and back in 2000 and still managed to make Climate Change a major issue in 2006 and help make an amazing prescient documentary. He also was right on Bush, right on Iraq, and right about our freedoms dissapearing.

they both have very high unfavorability ratings.
Clinton was a good President, but this time I want someone who will dramatically change America for the better, not four more years of things not getting any worse.

If you want a Bobby Kennedy moment you need to stick with Obama and Edwards.

I'm about convinced he's not going to get into the race. But, if he were to be elected, the international prestige of this country would skyrocket overnight. A lot of people don't realize how much he is admired throughout the world. The world would see us in an entirely different and positive light.

I'd like to know where he stands on civil rights, social services, social security, taxes, and a host of other issues. Instead, all I see on the media is a smiling cute guy and commentary about how a lot of Democratics think he has princely qualities. The media is broken in this country.

Hillary should be so lucky to even be considered for vice prez under Al Gore for prez.

I'd rather have Gore for prez with Obama, Fiengold, Clark or Edwards for vice. Hillary wants to sit on the fence and pander to warmonger conservatives and Zionists, while blaming her vote for war on Bush.

39. It's not impossible, but it feels unlikely. Al's interested in the top job.
He has been for a long time.

I don't really see either one of them as the vice presidnetial nominee on the ticket. There are strong cases to be made for either at the top. Name recognition is not a problem. The media will snarkolize whichever of the two wins nomination. Both threaten ultra-conservatives generally and fundie nutbags particularly.

And either would kick the stuffing out of the Republicans in 08.

But they're interests trend toward the top of the ticket.

Fate's cards are held close to her chin, but it could be that Al Gore jumps in after all, and it could be that Senator Clinton withdraws. We have no way of knowing.

43. I agree, but I'm assuming a lot here, I acknowledge
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 12:58 PM by Cronus Protagonist
I'm assuming that Hillary will get the nomination as long as Al doesn't participate in the primaries, Hillary could then invite him to be VP, as could Clarke or whoever else wins. Al wouldn't have to run for office until after his second VP was over, and I think he would surely take the job, if offered, as a way to make a difference in the world. How could he refuse? ("naaw, I want to be president, so screw you and the world"???)

The VP slot would then be a much more powerful position with Gore in it - no second fiddle, do the rounds stuff - he could attack the environmental and social problems for another 4-8 years and then take the presidency for the next 8 after that. We could usher in 16 years of Democratic rule if we play our cards right.

They say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.

:P
