Is Giuliani Italian enough? |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-14-07 08:12 PM by beaconess
I mean, his parents may both be Italian, but is he TRULY Italian in every sense of the word? Does he have full support in the Italian community? What do Italian activists think of him and his candidacy? He's been in the race about a half hour now - how many Italian leaders have endorsed him?
Are any Italians planning to vote for other candidates? If so, does that mean that his candidacy is in trouble, given his inability to maintain full support among people of his own ethnic background?
He's been divorced twice - isn't that a violation of the teachings of the Catholic Church? Aren't most Italians Catholic? Does this raise questions about his Italianness?
His last two wives were not Italian. Does he have an obsession with non-Italian women? What do Italian women think of his lack of interest in them? His children are only half Italian. Is this an indication that he has rejected his culture?
Giuliani made his reputation prosecuting lots of mobsters, most of them Italian. Certainly, this should raise concerns in the Italian community about whether he is an "Uncle Tomasso."
Any minute now, I'm sure, the media will start raising questions about Giuliani's Italianness, non-Italian pundits will line up to dissect Giuliani's commitment to his Italian heritage, and we'll begin seeing stories with such headlines as "Giuliani: Is He Italian Enough?" and "Italian Activists Take Wait and See Approach to Giuliani."
Any minute now . . .
Wait for it . . .

10. Does she overcompensate by trying to appear overly tough? |
|
I can see some of that - you just know the Repukes are going to start up on whether or not a woman will be tough enough on our enemies. Women are so weak, you know! :sarcasm:

The "National Italian American Foundation". They back Italians for public office. They supported both Alito and Pelosi. Morons. You should support people because you agree with them, not just because of their race/ethnicity/religion, etc...

6. Ah...now see you have pointed at the weak point of this entire |
|
argument...
The more that the Repug talking points keep trying to "paint" Obama as not black enough etc....more and more Americans are having their uh oh moment....when they realize...yes minorities of all kinds are held to a double standard...and even when they meet the supposed standards it's still not good enough.....
If this is all the Repugs have then they are in deep trouble wouldn't you say?

11. So, are his parents immigrants or is he of |

"genuine" American Italian-American stock? According to the ditz on the Colbert Report, that might make him an Italian Italian-American and not Italian enough by our standards. Ooooooh, so close. Sorry, Rudy, thanks for playing. Drive through.
