Obama/Kaine 2008?
http://www.raisingkaine.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=7131

Does Virginia Governor Kaine's endoresement of Obama put him the running for the veep spot should Obama get the nod?

Full disclosure...Tim Kaine is my Governor and I would love to see him on the national ticket...he is doing a great job...not sure if he has the national presence to be an asset...but he is popular here...

However I am a Hillary supporter...so I hope none of this happens :-)

1. I don't think Kaine would add enough "value" to be considered

2. O Bama might consider courting a Republican as his VP choice..
seeing Dick Lugar is his mentor.

7. Like what Kerry did when he courted McCain to join him as his VP running mate in 2004?
Thank goodness McCain shunned his advances so Kerry could never make the offer official. It was embarrassing enough as it was.

Tellurian, there is no way ever that Obama would ever court a Republican to be his VP, so don't even go there. :spank:

:hi:

9. Ouch! ewwwwwh!
hahaha! Come over here, mtnsnake, so I can hit you with my shoe. :hi:

I was being somewhat facetious- I just think it's strange OBama's mentor is Dick Lugar-
Can you tell me why that is?

16. As the moderator said when they closed your thread....
....accusing Kerry of trying to pick up McCain, it's been debunked.

6. More likely than Obama/Kaine (public: Obama/ WHO?!?!)
Kaine's going to have his day. I don't think it's here yet. If you're looking to complement Obama- I'd think you'd want someone with experience. Warner has that. Kaine... well... don't get me wrong- but he's (IIRC) only 2 years into the term as governor. Not gonna add too much to the experience department as far as the general public would see. Now Warner (Mark) is another story. Accomplished, track record, fiscal experience, etc...

14. Both wrong, I think
Obama will almost certainly pick a running mate heavy on foreign policy credentials, which neither of those two carry.

(No, I don't mean General Clark.)

4. No offense, but no way in Hell
After Kaine's performance in the Democratic Response to the 2006 SOTU, I don't think he's got the cojones needed to serve as an effective VP. But I could be wrong...

5. I thought his response was very good...
If you were here and saw how he is dealing with the Republican legislature you would revise your opinion !

15. No, Webb delivered a solid response to the 2007 SOTU
He even wrote it himself.

8. Choose your heroes wisely
but be aware that anyone who declares this early is likely to make minor mistakes and be crucified by the mighty Wurlitzer. You will probably have to end up supporting somebody you never heard of before.

I'll support any prochoice stiff the power elite deems amenable.

17. Hmmmm, I don't think so.
It's an endorsement, no need to think it's anything else. He may consider him because he's a Governor, just like Kerry considered Governor Vilsack in 2004. But at the end of the day, if Obama gets the nod....I don't think Kaine will be at the top of his list.
