Ed Schultz: The US needs to attack Iran |
|
So I tune in to the Ed Schultz radio show (syndicated by Jones Radio) on the local AAR radio affiliate and what do I hear? This is about 30 minutes into his show, and he’s going on and on about how Iran is a real threat that we have to take out. "They’re responsible for killing our troops," Schultz bellows. Then he goes on about how there’s "proof" that Iran is "supplying bombs that kill our soldiers."
Someone calls in later and asks him how he can square his bellicose stance with the fact that it’s Saudi Arabia that is funding and supporting the faction responsible for 85% of the turmoil in Iraq. His answer? It’s only Iran that could potentially create an atomic bomb, and it’s only Iran that has said that Israel should be "wiped off the map." The caller can barely get a word in edgewise to explain the error in Shultz' "logic," but Ed isn't having ahy of it and the caller politely ends the conversation. (You can't discuss anything logically with someone like Schultz when he feels he's on "a mission.")
I had to check the radio, as I thought I was listening to Rush Limbaugh. I guess Ed's been drinking the neo-con kool-aid again.

2. Not a huge Ed fan, but he didn't even imply that... |
|
You can go to his site (google it) and download his show. I listened to it today, and while he's suspicious of Iran (in the semi-unschooled variety), he is not for attacking Iran.
I suggest you listen to the show today and point out exactly where he said what you say he said...

6. I did listen as did several others here (there was a discussion |
|
thread earlier on it). Ed Schultz was pushing the entire administration line on Iran... hook, line, and sinker..

3. I used to wonder if Malloy was right about ES |
|
No reason to question MM after what you heard today. Looks like ES may never have stopped sipping the kool-aid if he so readily accepts the right wing notions about Iran.
I remember a time when he wouldn't even discuss theories about the electronic voting machines.

4. Ed brings in many to our side but facts and big Eddy are like ships ... |
|
.... passing in the night. BTW he almost never reads anything that an author has written prior to an interview .... and it shows.

11. I can't stand ES but have often been told that he brings many |
|
to our side. Recently I have been paying more attention to him and listen to him while in my car. I try to listen as if I am from the midwest, west, northeast or southwest (not hard I have lived in all of those areas), watch a little tv, don't read newspapers or magazines and don't read anything on the internet.
Honestly, I don't think he brings in any new Dems. He is just simply not very entertaining or knowledgeable. He is just a bloviating boy.

5. I want him OFF my XM 167 AAR channel, damn it! |
|

I do not always have to agree with progressive radio hosts, but damn... He does no research, just spouts out of his ass-- just like Limbaugh.
I know there are DUers who like him... NO offense to you, but I DO NOT. He is exploiting Libs/Progressives for his own financial gain, if you ask me..

|

and log on to stream Hartmann during that time... I was slow on the "gun" today, so I heard his first half hour or so... It had me cringing! Plus, I just about die when someone comes in my office and hears him--he sounds so much like Limbaugh! What must they be thinking!
if this merger goes through, here's to someone giving Schultz another channel :toast: back at ya, Horse with no Name.

9. Me, too. Obviously I haven't followed all the controversy lately, |
|
but why the hell was he bitching about AAR when he's now on it? Does he just want to draw attention to himself?
Hopefully XM Radio will get enough complaints about him that they'll drop him--or is he contracted to AAR? See, I don't really know what's going on.

13. It's an XM decision... AAR has Hartmann in that slot... |
|
It appears that ES bitched and moaned long enough with XM, that they gave in and stuck him on the AAR channel--and in prime time slot, damn it all!

14. I agree with you too. I am just sick about having him on XM. Sent them another e mail |
|
today and I will follow through and cancel my radio if they don't change the line up back to Air America. I cannot stand listening to him. I heard the Iran piece today, and I was sick. I don't think he is even "left of center". I think it is all about making him the most listened to radio host. That was how he opened his show today. Talking about how high his ratings are. He thinks he is untouchable. He went with some song about I won't apologize like he was taunting the liberals who hate him that he is on their radio and they can't do anything about it. I say we can. Keep up the pressure on XM. I don't care where he is other than there. Although I don't know why any Air America station in the US would carry his show after all he has said and "won't apologize for".

23. Just cancelled my XM subscription. |

Hubby got me Sirius for Christmas; for awhile, I kept both. But, I'm doing fine between KLSD 1360 San Diego (Progressive Talk) and Sirius (which breaks Thom Hartmann up). It's actually worked out because I can listen to Thom in the morning on KLSD for three hours, if I want, or I can listen to a repeat at 10 PM out here in SoCal on Sirius, after Malloy.
1360 is broadcasting all 3 hours of Thom.
And, yes, I did explain why I was dissatisfied. I'm a PROGRESSIVE (a liberal, if you prefer); I want to listen to progressives, not DLC-type shills (that are really Republican-lite). No, I don't want to keep it for the music - we have plenty of classic rock out here in SoCal, and Sirius music is better, in my humble opinion. I did mention that I consider Ed to be very uninformed, particularly about the law and constitutional issues; and, as a law school grad, I do not like to waste my time listening to hosts who don't even bother to do their research.
I did enjoy XM before they fired Malloy; but, that was pretty much it for me. It's not enough that they will soon have him back. I can listen to him on my Sirius equipment.

12. The body of your post is correct, but your headline is false. |
|
I don't even like Ed, he's a former Republican and a complete egomaniac and a DLC shill, but even he deserves an fair and accurate accounting of what he actually said.
I'll donate $50 to your favorite charity if you can provide the sound cut where he says that the U.S. needs to attack Iran.
You lose credibility when you make false statements like that.

15. No, he was backing the admin's false claims that they |
|
have the evidence nailed down that Iran is behind the weapons being imported into Iraq, killing our troups... He did not specify a need to specifically bomb, Iran, but he certainly intimated that we needed to go after them in some way. He would not listen to anyone who pointed out that the Chair of Joint Chiefs of Staff had denied the claim, as have others in the military...

19. He's still better than Limbaugh, though. And I listen to him sometimes |
|
when he has interesting Dem Guests. He doesn't seem to do much research but he also plays the dumb guy well...and those who listen to him are probably recovering Limbaughites so he knows his audience and what plays with them.
I don't see him as bad as many here do.

20. I'd certainly agree he is better than Limbaugh... |
|
and I also agree he does get good interviews from time to time. But, his ego is a real problem, causing him to stab Lib/Dem/Progressives in the back who happen to get in his way... He seems to feel entitled... that's a problem.
