BushCo Attempts to Screw Nail into Wall (whole world gets "screwn" as a result) |
|
This is the analogy I keep thinking of:
BushCo, trying to get a nail into a wall, is using the wrong tool. They're holding a screwdriver, spinning it around furiously on the nail head. Critics tell them to put down the screwdriver, it's just not working and it's not going to work! But they reply:
"If we put down the screwdriver now, we might leave the nail sticking out from the wall!! That would represent a total failure to complete the task!! If those critics had their way, this nail would never get into the wall! Don't you realize how important it is for us to succeed in this?? Why don't you realize it, or care about it? We're not going to put down this screwdriver until the job is finished!! In fact, what we need is more screwdrivers!!"
That's how I see their arguments about Iraq. This is not a problem the military can solve, yet by holding to the assumption that their approach eventually can and will succeed, they criticize their opponents as "anti-success" rather than "anti-trying-to-hammer-a-nail-using-a-screwdriver." Know what I mean?
Step One: PUT DOWN THE SCREWDRIVER!!!

2. It's the analogy I've been using too. |
|
In response to the "what's your plan, then?" meme, I have been saying, "It's time to realize there's more than just hammers in the toolbox."
