Update: It turns out, Geffen , as the Clinton team had asserted. Given the importance of tying Geffen’s comments to the Obama campaign, it’s a relevant detail.

Oops!

I agree with Digby.

1. Me too ... but everyone has warned that HRC would play hardball
She's not going to give up this nomination without a fight, and God help anyone who gets in her way.

I'm proud of David Geffen for saying what a lot of us believe -- she's got too much baggage. Yes, America is ready for a woman president -- just not THIS woman.

2. When I think about it,
they both goofed. Clinton's team should have directed their fire at Geffen and Obama should have ignored them.

So far there isn't much political astuteness being displayed.

3. Obama shouldn't have made the Lincoln Bedroom remark but instead followed up on the Rich pardon

remark by Geffen, because Marc Rich is current today as ever since Libby was his lawyer and other names from BCCI, as well as Rich's, pop up in the Plame trial.

5. Interesting, but most folks don't know or remember Marc Rich, but do remember Lincoln bedroom flap

6. I understand, but Rich comment by Geffen was really the more devastating one
for Clintons in the long run. Rich is part of everything happening today, including Plame outing. Lincoln bedroom has no reach into today's matters.

4. Geffen's response...
Not to be left out of the fun, Geffen issued this brief statement today:

"Despite reports to the contrary, I am not the Campaign Finance Chair and have no formal role in the Obama campaign, nor will I, other than to continue to offer my strongest possible personal support for his candidacy. My comments, which were quoted accurately by Maureen Dowd, reflect solely my personal beliefs regarding the Clintons. Thank You."

Team Clinton Is Losing Its Mind Already

by Steve Soto

As a follow up to my earlier post about Obama's Hollywood swing yesterday, read this stupidity from the Clinton camp today and ask yourself if this is the sign of a campaign whose wheels are coming off already. It sure looks like a campaign that is frazzled over the support Obama is getting from the Hollywood elite, and it makes me wonder how quickly things would crumble months from now if Gore got into the race.

And if that isn't enough to turn your stomach, how about her straw man smears against her fellow Democrats? I'm already getting pretty damn tired of this self-righteous BS from both Clinton and to a lesser degree Obama.
