Meanwhile, how about some Democratic GOOD news ....... ?
And its news that has not one damned thing to do with 08 presidential politics ....... Instead, its about some interesting stuff happening here in Maryland now that Martin O'Malley is the Guv.

Pictured here with his wife .....

..... O'Malley just today said he's determined to do something about the death penalty. Like kill it ...... by fiat or by an act of the state legislature.

Death Penalty Bears Down on O'Malley, Kaine

A political rising star who is also a bit of a rock star himself

O'Malley is also working on a Living Wage bill. Passed by the legislature but vetoed by Nazi Bob Ehrlich, O'Malley's predecessor, it seems pretty much a done deal to pass this time around.

O'Malley pledging a 'living wage'

What's going on in your state? The Dems took a lot of state legislatures and governorships this last go-round. Surely there's more hopeful news from where you live.

1. I'm so happy we have O'Malley instead of "choke, cough, vomit" Ehrlich!

2. Colorado has the gov's office...and both houses.
:applause:

We just avoided a train wreck when Gov. Ritter vetoed a Dem labor bill. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but, he promised to bring back civility to Colorado politics. The bill was rammed through and business was throwing a real hissy fit. They actually backed him. Ritter is a straight arrow Jesuit kind of guy, very Catholic, very married. The legislature scenario was almost like a cartoon. Anyhoo, while supporting the substance of the bill, he told each side to play nice. He and Romanoff, the Senate majority leader have the ability to pull this off. They will make the next opposition response look like histrionics, a real fit of the vapors.

Colorado is still a red state tinged with blue. Labor is having a hissy fit. But that is ok. Business is going to have a come to Jesus moment in the next few years. They, most self indulgently, have bought into that Heritage Foundation nonsense much long.

You have no idea what it has taken for me to post this. No scrolling...I had to turn off my laptop, erasing the saved post....damn. Then hubby called, he's out of town. But I did want to respond to your thread, so I persevered. Dems are doing OK, we just need to keep pedaling. :)

3. Thanks for posting it
A lot of people on our side were having a freak-out without really understanding what Gov. Ritter was trying to do. It's not that he doesn't support the bill, it's that he wants it to pass in a way that doesn't make our leaders in the State Leg. look bad. The labor bill will be back, but it'll look a lot more civil this time around and hopefully leave the Republicans without a leg to stand on.
