Fellow Deaniacs: Look who's working for Obama

"This post is about Robert Gibbs, the man that Barack Obama has chosen to be his spokesperson to the world.

Robert Gibbs was was spokesperson for John Kerry in 2003, and he worked under the direction of Jim Jordan. Both of them grew to detest Howard Dean, as they saw their frontrunner candidate slip in his position to Howard Dean over the year. For Jordan, it was a case of terrible strategic advice that he was fired, but he went on to position himself below the media production through in 2004 and did quite well. Robert Gibbs remained a spokesperson, but his next gig wasn't Barack Obama until after Obama won the primary in 2004. Before that, Gibbs became the spokesman for a new group called "Americans for Jobs, Health Care and Progressive Values". A group that promptly created the most disgusting ad I've ever seen occur in a Democratic primary against Howard Dean...

16. What in his prior experience makes him your choice? What
organization other than his staff has he ever managed?

20. Sometimes organizations are the problem, and not the
solution. Witness * and his fine machine. Managed the organzation all to hell, didn't they? People are dying and are being impoverished because of the fine job our MBA adminstration has done.

I want some compassion back in our national identity, and not compassion compressed to a two word slogan either.

2. I don't care what Obama does.
I'm waiting for Gore. If Gore doesn't run, I'll vote for the nominee, but none of the current candidates appeals to me, except maybe Kucinich. I'll have to take a closer look at him and his platform.

friends, moving past all the rancor created within their campaigns.

Obama's camp was wrong to use the Lincoln Bedroom line, but it isn't NEARLY as bad as Clinton proclaiming that SOME DEms aren't interested in fighting terror but SHE is.

Clinton is reifying RW talking points against Democrats to the MAX.

5. FWIW, I disliked Trippi from the start.
His subsequent actions proved my initial evaluation of his character to be correct. Even now, when I see his name, I cringe with revulsion.

13. Low from an independent group, but not lower than Hillary, herself, SAYING that
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 12:54 PM by blm
some Dems running aren't interested in fighting terrorism, while SHE is.

THAT is LOWER than low. It came right from Bush's own speeches against Democrats.

Why isn't Jerome showing CONCERN about that? I'll tell you why - he's a Warner team player and Warner wants to stay on Hillary's shortlist. So, let's not pretend that Jerome REALLY thinks Obama's counter to Hillary is somehow worse than what Hillary's doing and saying against other Democrats.

Hillary's blast against Democrats is much more in line with the Usama ad than anything Obama's team has said.

22. Yes, but the tone of that 2003 ad is being carried on by Hillary's attack against
other Dems running who just don't seem to be interested in fighting terror - you know - like only she will.

Sheesh - she is a reifying RW talking point liar.

4. Ya know, I don't care. This is bare-knuckle politics. And BTW. the spokesperson
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 11:53 AM by NYCGirl
for Obama yesterday was Bill Burton, so I have no idea where Mr. Gibbs comes in.

Edited to add: If Al Gore does not run, Obama is my choice.

9. If Gore doesn't run...
I will probably support Edwards or Clark in the primary and if either Clinton or Obama are the final candidate, I will do what I did for Kerry: work my ass off for the Democratic candidate. We NEED a Democratic President AND a Democratic Congress, and even if Clinton and Obama aren't the best progressive/populist candidates, they are a step towards that goal.

But until that time I will level any fair criticism their way as is deserved.

14. Went to a Obama meeting here in Madison last night
Edited on Thu Feb-22-07 12:47 PM by zulchzulu
There were 32 people there. Not a bad turnout for the first meeting. The demographic range was from people in their 60s to college students.

We went around the room with who supported whom... all were for Kerry in the GE... a few were for Clark, a few for Dean, a few for Kucinich, some Edwards fans, some Kerry fans... it was a wide mix.

We'll see how it progresses. There will be a table at the very popular Farmers Market, which is coming up in April. Someone has already been in contact with the Obama campaign and will have stickers and such ready to go...

(On edit: added some stuff)

15. Howard Dean started the flip-flopper meme on Kerry,
and John Edwards brought out a Republican hack named Hugh Shelton to smear Wes Clark.

So this fails to get my dander up.

I'll say this for Obama, he a real live candidate who is actually running, not the spectre of one like Al Gore.
