Dear Al Gore: You're killing me!
If you are not going to run for president, and it sure looks that way, could you please issue a short statement why you believe you could do more OUTSIDE the oval office? It would end this speculation and analysis that haunts me everyday.

Millions of us believe this planet is in VERY mortal danger and YOU are far and away the best hope for America and the world. We hang on every syllable that you utter when someone asks, "Will you run in 2008?" It truly SUCKS.

If this is a grand PR ploy and you are running... that's great. I'll get over my current frustration and give you kudos.
But you seemed to give Jimmy Carter a more definitive answer in private.

Come on Al! Even after all that, Jimmy is not 100% sure. If you are not running TELL US. IN A SHORT STATEMENT. That's not much to ask.
I want to get behind another candidate instead of "pining" for you.

2. I'm just enjoying the ketchup coming slowly out of the bottle
to the tune of "Anticipation", living in the moment and this is cool for now. You can make the ketchup come out sooner by adding a little water and shaking it up, but who wants diluted ketchup? Personally, I can wait until Al is ready, May is fine, July works for me, September is great, I'm ok with December.:)

3. Waiting is fine with me
He's got lots on his plate and doesn't have to declare just because everyone else is jumping in. We know who he is, what he stands for, and what direction he'll take our country in if elected. I'll bide.

8. same here..
I wanted Gore to run for Governor against Phil Bredesen in 2006 and I would like to see Gore run for Governor in 2010.

Phil Bredesen is one of the worst Governors in the country, and he has made Bush's cutbacks in Medicaid only worse by weakening Tenncare! Gore could do allot more for those who rely on Tenncare to cover their medical expenses than he could by running for President. But if he does run in 2008, he would be one of the top Democrats on my list of primary candidates.

5. Maybe this is why ....
Gore realizes that what he thinks needs to be done is politically unfeasible. The Senate voted 95-0 against Kyoto- and Gore signed the resolution.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyoto_Protocol

On July 25, 1997, before the Kyoto Protocol was finalized (although it had been fully negotiated, and a penultimate draft was finished), the U.S. Senate unanimously passed by a 95–0 vote the Byrd-Hagel Resolution (S. Res. 98),<43><44> which stated the sense of the Senate was that the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol that did not include binding targets and timetables for developing as well as industrialized nations or "would result in serious harm to the economy of the United States".

6. Chillax, HE IS RUNNING!
Keep a few things in mind as you bite at your nails.

He CANNOT announce before the July Climate Change Concerts. He can't.

If he becomes an official candidate BEFORE those shows, they take on a whole new meaning and purpose, they go from being the climate change concerts to the "Al Gore for President" concerts and that isn't effective.

Al Gore needs to stay out of the race until September and he has told you everything you need to have faith.

Look at his actions.

In 2002 he issued a definitive "I'm not running" statement. 2007, Exactly the opposite, he keeps leaving the door specifically open.

In 2002 he specifically requested that the draft Gore movement stop. 2007, Exactly the opposite. He has even called the movement flattering, instead of asking that they spend their time, money and effort working for other candidates who want to run.

Right now Al Gore is getting all the benefits of being a candidate, without having to be a candidate!

Just Relax, look at all the evidence, realize he absolute CANNOT announce now and wait until the timing is better!

7. The only way i'll believe Gore isn't running
Is when he has a big press conference and in a good speech announces he won't seek the white house.

Nuff said.

12. Please be patient!
Al Gore was looking great last night.

He looks like he is ready to keep working and keep contributing over the coming ten years.

Maybe he will keep doing what he is doing right now (raising awareness through books and speeches, working in an almost "non-partisan" way). Or maybe he will change his plans depending on changing circumstances (and I think all of us know that plans can change when our circumstances change or when new opportunities present themselves - so I hope nobody will try to fight me on this "undeniable truth").

I think Al Gore is keeping his options open right now, watching how the "pre-season" goes. I don't think he yet knows what he will do in 2008.

There is no hurry for Gore to enter the race for 2008. He is doing a great job raising public awareness about the climate crisis. He will testify at a Congressional Hearing in Washington on March 21st.

Gore is also busy working on his next book "The Assault on Reason" - to be published in May. The theme of this book - why we need better decision-making in government - is very timely (whether he runs or not).

Depending on how things pan out, and the reaction to his book, Gore can consider his situation over the summer and announce his decision (or if you prefer - "change his mind") sometime in the fall.

Don't forget that Bill Clinton did not kick-off his campaign until October 1991. But Al Gore already has nationwide respect and name recognition that other wannabees can only wish for!

And by the way - Gore is younger than Hillary, Clark, McCain and Guiliani (I'm not saying age is the most important factor - but you should be ready to serve for a full 8 years).

Unless and until Gore endorses another candidate, we have to assume that he is keeping his options open. So it is too soon for those of us who prefer Gore to switch our allegiance.

The best thing we can do right now is to support the "Draft Gore" movement: www.draftgore.com

Maybe the next best thing at this stage in the game would be to work for Barack Obama? Obama is helping to keep this race open and stop Hillary becoming "unbeatable". Plus he would make a great VP for Al Gore! (and potentially, Obama could then run for President in 2016. There's no big rush.)

Let's all find ways to show our support for Al Gore! :patriot:

Read Rolling Stone magazine: WHY GORE SHOULD RUN -- AND HOW HE CAN WIN

Get ready for Al Gore's next book - The Assault on Reason - out in May!
