Nice to know this: Groups working for PEACE in Iran.... and HERE as well.
Civilian Diplomats Prepare to Head to Iran

In the face of increasingly-heated rhetoric between the U.S. and Iranian governments, the Fellowship of Reconciliation’s third interfaith peace delegation will depart for Iran on Feb. 28th. The delegation reflects FOR’s ongoing commitment to peace, justice, and the nonviolent resolution of conflict.

I found this out while searching for a possible speaker to join us at our rally in Greensboro on March 17th. I went to the Voices for Creative Non-Violence http://vcnv.org/ , and found a name I recognized.

Mobilize Against the Iraq War: March 16-19

As the 4th anniversary of the immoral invasion of Iraq approaches, religious communities are organizing to end the war. FOR is partnering with Christian peace fellowships and other ecumenical leaders to vigil for peace in Washington on March 16th. As an interfaith organization, we invite you to join us in supporting this "Christian Peace Witness for Iraq."

Then, from Saturday the 17th through Monday the 19th, FOR is joining with United for Peace and Justice in supporting local actions around the country. Visit the UFPJ Web site to locate -- or organize -- an event in your community!

I was thrilled that this man is going to join us after just arriving back from his trip.

1. Please go to the UPJ
http://www.unitedforpeace.org/ and then check out the following, if you haven't lately

Read Phyllis Bennis' talking points on "Escalating Threats of U.S. Attacks Against Iran"

Click here for more resources and analysis on Iran.

Here's how you can help:

include a call for no attack on Iran in any activities you are organizing to end the war in Iraq;

send letters to the editor and call into radio talk shows to explain why you oppose a military attack or war in Iran;

pressure your members of Congress to use their power to prevent a war on Iran.

And if you haven't already:

Click here and sign Peace Action's "No War with Iran!" petition today! This petition to Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice rejects any U.S. military action against Iran and demands direct negotiations. Copies will go to Chairs of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and House Committee on International Relations.

Click here to sign After Downing Street Coalition's petition directed at Bush and Cheney.

4. thanks for above link
http://ga4.org/campaign/stopiranwar/step2 -I already did it but not my hubby-so a good reminder-more actions on this page and the above. I hope everyone will take some kind of action the more the better, somimes local actions may get more coverage than national ones. Ours we are inviting artist to create and dispaly their work, some music and reading and several speakers. We are beginning to hand out flyers now.
Most people are receptive but I must admit it really saddens and sickens me to see the few that pretend to be way to cool to be concerned about such matters.

5. DU seems really slow on the uptake on Iran
It's surprising me there isn't more concern. I hope it will pick up. Thanks very much for your OP.

6. Too busy with other pressing matters.......
after the first bomb is dropped, they'll be paying attention; too late as usual.

Can't take credit when something "didn't" happen......and usually it takes something to happen before DUers who are really like the rest of the country really start to pay attention.

That's how it works...unfortunately for the state of our affairs.
