2. This was a non-event, my friend.

As an NYU student, I was able to gain a first-hand persepctive of what happened.

It was simply this: a few cameras and one reporter from Fox News showed up, but that's about the extent of it. Manhattan is fundementally ill-suited for these kind of events, due to the high density of people and lack of open spaces. What it looked like to me was just a bunch of people milling about near Washington Square. These guys obviously wanted a huge nationwide media blitz, but all they got for their pains were a few page 5 mentions, a bit of blog squak, and a crowd of protestors who, quite frankly, stole the show.

I always wonder why people from regions far, far from the Mexican border always make the most noise about immigration. If they tried this in my hometown of Los Angeles, they would have gotten the stuffing beaten out of them long before Fox even had a chance to arrive.

And, they're intelligent enough, according to them, to enlist in the armed forces - they kept saying that Kerry was calling our armed forces "stupid", so why don't they enlist?

Similarly, I was at a Borders in Ann Arbor when I overheard a conversation between three campus Repugs. The one really dumb (all things being relative) girl bitched about how Republicans were a tiny oppressed minority at the University of Michigan, and how Ann Arbor was a radical left-wing city, and then she proceeded to boast about an upcoming "Illegal Immigrant" football game sponsored by the College Republicans in which the losing team got "deported."
How they get into any college is one of life's great mysteries.:dunce:
