3. Yes but I wish he had corrected O'Reilly's remark about the reason for the Iraq war. |
O'Reilly said that Sadam's brutality against his people was the reason for going to war. Maher should have at least mentioned WMD's in response to that. People like O'Reilly are trying to change the past in people's minds by throwing out statements like that and those statements should be challenged every time.

4. The thing is, O'Reilly was sort of right. |
The justifications for the war were so muddled and so "jumpy" thru the whole prewar mock debate, that any position or argument no matter how inconsistant might have been employed on any given day. They didn't care about consistancy, just about the appearance of resolve, to win the day.

5. The official "legal" reason for going to war was WMDs. |
They're trying to muddy that and throw in a bunch of other reasons that were nothing but side issues at the time and which did not give any legal justification for the war. WMDs were what they used in their attempt to give the appearance of legal justification, and it turned out to be totally bogus. They're now trumpeting the side issues and ignoring that. They need to be called on it every time they do it.
