I think Clark getting out is going to be worse for Dean and Edwards... |
|
A lot of folks picked Clark because of the Foreign Policy experience as well as wartime service credentials.
A lot of average Clark folks may very well transfer that to Kerry.
I am not convinced many people were for him because he was a Southerner or because he was actually on balance against the war. It was more of a credibility thing.
Skull and bones or not, I still think Kerry has credibility, experience, and gravitas.

I can't fault the other candidates supporters though - it seems when a candidate drops they all seem to think the supporters will magically ascend en masse to their candidate, rather than disperse throughout the field and do little to change the dynamics, save for actually increasing the status of the front runner (due to "follow the leader" instincts).
Just human nature, I guess.

4. Kerry's Skull and Bones affiliation doesn't bother me. |
|
Because he could have used his influence to get out of fighting in 'Nam as Dumbya did but he instead chose to do the right thing, nearly getting himself killed in the process. That shows guts and character, two things Georgie is seriously lacking.

5. Skull and Bones is an organization |

of members of the business and banking elite. This makes the already untrustworthy candidate he is on NAFTA even more untrustworthy if he's not going to betray the scumbags in that little club.

It will make the debate more focused, allowing Dean and Edwards to stand out more.

Support at best will be distributed equally among the others, but I think that given the current situation, Clark supporters who decide to support someone else will tend to favor the frontrunner. Evidence, look at CNN's exit polls for TN: 81% would be satisfied if Kerry's the nominee.
Btw, this Clark supporter will vote for Clark in the CA primary. Perhaps, he will do better than expected for a former candidate :)
