Damn . . . I can't watch Law & Order anymore and I'm gonna miss it |
|
After the article on Fred Thompson's possible run was printed today, I can't watch the Law & Order anymore which he's on. I guess I can still watch the others, but I'd have a hard time feeling like I in any way support this guy or the people paying him. If you missed it, his "platform" was reported today, if he runs, and it includes that he's already made the decision he would pardon Libby. Now, of course I don't agree with anything else he stands for, like overturning Roe v. Wade, etc., but the Libby thing really burns my ass. He's not even half way through the appeal process!
Oh well, I guess I'll have a little more reading time, and I've only managed to get through a couple chapters of Obama's second book.

1. Thompson has about 5 lines in each and unless you have a Nielson box you aren't a blip on nbc's |
|
radar. I've been watching L & O for 16 years and i'm going to give it up for some joker thats only been on for 5 seasons with screen time totally about 2 hours--not bloody likely.

3. Oh that's crazy. He plays the role very well on L&O, and I will sure |
|
continue to watch ithat show, and all it's affiliate programs too. Just agreeing that an actor plays aparticualr rolewell doesn't mean that you support him for some other job!
I happen to think he was a good replacement in that role, and I really like L&O.

4. Believe me, I realize it's not an extremely rational thing |
|
It's just how I feel, and in the immortal words of Popeye, I am what I am.
I figured other people would disagree, and I was curious about the responses.
How about the Gropenator? As I've gotten older, I don't really care for what he does, but now I wouldn't think of seeing a movie of his.

I sure wouldn't watch any of them now.

for Sam Waterston to have debates with. Keep watching it, Jack McCoy wins all of the debates.

I don't want the guy in the White House because he's a conservative.

9. I can't go to Dunkin Donuts anymore... |

I see James Baker III's face at the door, and picture myself putting money in his pocket.:puke: I can't watch ABC, CNN, MSNBC, or anything Fox. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when Boston Legal has re-runs on A&E, or when I find out how many of those incidental stations are owned by the big boys. Walmart is a no-go. I may be pissing in the wind, but I like it. Fred Thompson as president almost seems appropriate, even an up-grade..if he were to bring along the script-writers and Jack McCoy. If government is to continue being such a farce, why not make it a little more professional...theatrically speaking?

11. When Kerry Gopt "Frauded" Vincent D'Onifrio Was So Upset He |
|
actually cried on set. I like Criminal Intent better anyway, but I've known about Thompson all along. He doesn't have a lot of exposure for the most part.
They actually do deal with some of the "War" issues very well whether he likes it or not. Also, they deal with loss of freedoms here in Amerika too, which did surprise me.

12. He's why I stopped watching |
|
I can't believe people are giving you a hard time for a personal choice. We quit watching when Fred came on. I just didn't feel like having to run out of the room vomiting any more. Law and Order: TOS is the most simple-minded, black-and-white mentality of the three and I wish a truck would run over Jack McCoy. Lee

13. I felt the same, then changed my mind. |
|
I really like all the incarnations of L&O. Also, one of my son-in-law's college buddies is one of the writers. Cool.
The first time I was watching an episode when the bloviating blowhard appeared I said "Screw you!" and changed channels. Did that every time he came on.
Then one night I thought "Why let this dumb bastard deprive you of something you enjoy?"
As has been said above, he usually appears in what's basically a cameo role, and just for a few minutes, if that. Plus, he's also usually in opposition to whatever good work the ADAs are trying to do.
So now I just shoot him the bird and keep enjoying the program. :-)

15. His main goal is to shut down Medicare/Social Security |
|
He says it all the time and it is his primary goal.
Articles and media talking heads let this fact be soft pedalled and downplayed. Please do not play their game, Thompson is vigorously against what he calls entitlement programs. He hates them.

16. I really appreciate the discussion . . . . and I have one more thought |
|
if anyone cares to comment. I often wondered if I was the only one that let things like this bother me at all. Like, am I hyper-sensitive or something
Here I go . I can not stand all the f*cking truck and SUV commercials on television, and don't get me started about the Hummers.
I love football, and I almost break my arm getting to the remote to mute the gazillion Dodge, Chevy, GMC, yadda yadda . How many f*cking trucks can they sell? I often have a little daydream of a future day that looks like road warrior and all those damn monster vehicles are sitting on the roadside with flowers growing out of them!
Thanks . . I feel better now
Have a great day! and one more thing . . Go Gators!
